I guess I'll start with just the weird news and then go into the deeper stuff.
So earlier last week my parents got news of some free books they could rummage through and take what they wanted. This turned out to be a friend of my dad's who owns apartments and the man who lived in one was an active reader and had thousands of books. His family didn't want any of these books. Both my parents are big readers, mainly my mother. A few years ago my dad turned the outside gazebo into a library for her and this is where all of these new books went. ANYWAY.... my parents went and got a good amount, I went with them on my day off and it was pretty picked over (some others have come, too) and I felt a-little overwhelmed by all of these books this man had. He was a Vietnam vet and from what we learned from finding notes he left behind he was actually writing a book of his own and kept several notes on random things. It was interesting learning of all his interests, it felt sort of like a dive into someone we would never meet. Books ranged from all sorts of religious types to conspiracy theories, famous people, health books, art books and a huge amount of comic books. So I got some new ones to enjoy. It felt bittersweet since he had no one to take these after he passed and sort of reminded me I need to someday make a will and figure out who will get my house and belongings when I pass.
Then the next bit of news is the house besides me has been long abandoned and in bad shape. There was a fire back in 2017 and they had to put it out by creating three holes in the roof. Needless to say, the elements got to it and its been slowly rotting away. Some of the family got it and had it demolished and some of the land stripped clear of the beautiful wildlife surrounding it. I was sad and stressed by this. The house needed to go, and that is a good thing since it was a health hazard. But I felt very sad as I saw and heard many trees crashing down and being taken away. Perfectly healthy trees. I thought of the animals and wildlife who lived in and around those trees. This property stretches' all around and beside mine, so I am anxious to see what happens of it.
And lastly I wanted to update about my health. A few days ago on Friday I got a phone call back on some blood work I had taken the morning before. I've been feeling tired now for a long time - maybe a few years - and always thought it was anemia since my mom has it. Well it turns out it is my thyroid. Normal cut off for TSH levels being high cut off at 4.5. Mine is 18.7! Ten years ago when I last had my blood tested it was in the 1% range. The nurse was very worried and luckily I'm going to see my doctor to talk about what should be done next later this week.
After I sort of digested this news, I looked at high levels of TSH hormones and found a list of many symptoms. Many of which I related to. The main ones I feel I have are being tired a-lot, getting cold easily, having my hands go numb, soreness throughout my body with my muscles, heavy bleeding during periods, brain fog, weight gain and sometimes feeling depressed. I had no idea the thyroid works with a good amount of everything in your body, even heart rate.
But anyway, I just thought an update journal would be helpful. Hope everyone is staying well. I will get my life back in control soon I feel.
