I'm so glad I kept up with these. It took me a long time, but I'm finally done once I answer these questions. ^^;;
Here is the full list if anyone is interested: https://jo.dreamwidth.org/2802730.html#cutid1

December 2023
1 – Cookie Cutter Day: Do you own any cookie cutters? Any unusual ones? Tell us about them.
Yes, I have some that my mom gave me from when I was a kid. They are pretty typical, I think Christmas cookie designs. Maybe some animals... I need to find them and use them soon.

2 – Play Basketball Day: Have you ever played basketball?
Yes, in gym class and a few times with my nephew or some other family members.

3 – Make a Gift Day: Do make gifts for anybody? How about cards?
Yes, I usually paint friends gifts. Small canvas gifts or little crafts. I have made cards in the past, too.

4 – Wear Brown Shoes Day: Do you own any brown shoes?
Yes, I have several pairs of boots and those happen to be brown!

5 – National Repeal Day: December 5th marks the end of prohibition in the United States (back in 1933). If you're not American, did your country ever prohibit the sale of alcohol (or maybe it still does)? Does it make sense that alcohol is legal, but other substances aren't?
No, honestly I'm pretty open minded to a-lot of substances. As long as those who use them are educated and know what the effects may be - who cares.

6 – Put on Your Own Shoes Day: How old were you when you learned to put on your own shoes? How about when you learned to tie your own shoelaces?
I can't remember! Old enough? And I'm not sure. I know I did have some trouble learning how to tie my shoe laces.

7 – Cotton Candy Day: Do you like cotton candy? (Also known as Fairy Floss.)
Eh, it's okay but I don't go out of my way to eat it. I never knew it was also called fairy floss.
This is also my birthday :D

8 – Lost and Found Day: Have you ever lost something important to you and thought you would never get it back, but then you found it or someone returned it to you?
Yes, what always comes to mind is when I was a kid I had a sailor outfit. With a hat and while at a fair one year I lost it. We realized halfway home and drove back to try to find it but it was no where in sight. Also once I lost my stuff cow in her yellow dress. Luckily we found that/someone returned it. But I think about that poor sailor hat from time to time.

9 – Christmas Card Day: Do you send Christmas/holiday cards? How many do you send? Do you receive many cards?
Yes, now I just send them out to people who send them to me. I do receive and send out more cards when it comes to stamps because I like to use a card since it's sturdier and less likely to damage the stamps.

10 – World Choral Day: Have you ever sung in a choir?
Yes, not by choice but in grade school and high school. I never liked it and usually would just try to mouth the words.

11 – Stretching Day: How flexible are you? Do you do any stretching or flexibility exercises regularly?
I'm not too flexible but I do like to do screeches. Usually I do them before or during yoga.

12 – Gingerbread House Day: Have you ever made a gingerbread house? How did it turn out?
Yes, I've made them with my family. They are rather difficult I think.

13 – Day of the Horse: Have you ever been horseback riding? Have you read any of the classic horse books, e.g. Black Beauty, the Misty of Chincoteague books, the Black Stallion books, the Silver Brumby books? Are you a fan of any horse-related sports, e.g. racing or show jumping?
Yes, I have been horseback ridding. I'm not a huge fan since I think being up high on them is sort of scary. I fell off once and hurt my ankle pretty bad. I don't think I have read any of those books, I should someday since I have been doing so much more reading as of lately. I remember liking the black beauty movie as a kid.

14 – Roast Chestnuts Day: Have you ever made or eaten roast chestnuts?
I've eaten roasted ones but have yet to make them!

15 – Cat Herders' Day: Have you ever had to do anything where it felt like you were trying to herd cats?
No luckily. I used to volunteer at the local animal shelter and it was nice to work with the cats there.

16 – Chocolate-Covered Anything Day: Is there anything that would not be improved by being covered in chocolate? What is your favourite chocolate-covered food?
My favorite is chocolate covered pretzels. I can think of so many foods that don't need to be chocolate covered... and I think it's best not to repeated those since it is pretty gross.

17 – Wright Brothers Day: How do you feel about plane travel?
I'm pro plan travel.

18 – International Migrants Day: International Migrants Day emphasizes the protection of migrants’ human rights. The day also recognizes the contributions and efforts of migrants around the world. Has anyone in your family ever migrated from one country to another? What would your country be like without migrants?
Not my close family. I think it would be pretty hopeless and helpless. We all need each other to survive. I hate to think of what is happening currently with migrants. :-/

19 – Look for an Evergreen Day: Are there many species of evergreens where you live?
Yes, there are! I should know the names but it is escaping me right now.

20 – Go Caroling Day: Have you ever been caroling? Are there any groups in your neighbourhood who go caroling at this time of year?
Yes, as a girl scout I did go out caroling. I'm not sure if there is currently.

21 – Don't Make Your Bed Day: Were you brought up to make your bed every day? Do you make your bed every day?
Nope and nope! :-p

22 – Mathematics Day: Were you good at mathematics in school? How much of the math/s you learned in school do you use in your everyday life now?
No, I'm not the best at math. I feel like I use a good amount of the math I learned in school but I did not take advanced math classes.

23 – Roots Day: How much do you know about your own family history? Do you know the names of your great grandparents? Have any of your ancestors been a part of any significant historical events?
I've been trying to learn more since I think that sort of thing is wonderful! Yes, I do know their names and some other family members. I don't think any have been any part of historical events.

24 – Christmas Eve: Christmas Eve is filled with both religious and nonreligious traditions and a variety of foods. What are some of your holiday traditions? How did they begin?
We would usually be able to open one gift on christmas eve. And we would leave santa cookies and some food out for the reindeers. It was always a fun time of the year.

25 – Pumpkin Pie Day: Pumpkin pie, yes or no?
Yes please! I think it's one of my favorite kinds of pie

26 – Whiner's Day: National Whiner’s Day is here to encourage people to appreciate what they have instead of complaining about what they don’t! What do you have to be thankful for today?
I have many things to be grateful for! My house for example.

27 – Make Cut-out Snowflake Day: Have you ever made cut-out snowflakes? How about a string of cut-out paper dolls?
Yes, as a kid I did this a-lot. Both in school and girl scouts and just other winter time activities.

28 – Card Playing Day: Do you play card games?
I'm not a huge fan of playing cards.

29 – Tick Tock Day: Tick Tock Day reminds you that the year is almost at an end, and there are things still left to be doing, and in fact, only two days left to do them in. What do you need to get done so that you don't let the year end with regret?
I don't think this question matters so much now since I'm answering it in March.... ^^

30 – Bicarbonate of Soda Day. How many uses do you know of for bicarbonate of soda?
A few! Not only can it be used in baking but so many other things like crafts and useful health related things or things you can do around your home.

31 – Make Up Your Mind Day: How decisive are you? What is likely to make it hard for you to make a decision?
I am pretty decisive at times and other times I can be pretty un-decisive. Usually things I have to make a decision on right away without me giving it more time make me feel pretty nervous.

November 2023 questions! Just one more month to go! ^^;; Here is the list if anyone is curious. https://jo.dreamwidth.org/2802730.html#cutid1

1 – Extra Mile Day: When was the last time you went the extra mile for someone, or someone went the extra mile for you? Tell us about it.
Well I'm not sure... I guess the last few times I helped anyone was when I paid a vet bill for Wiley when Mike needed me to and he paid me back of course. Anna (my sister) a few weeks ago needed a ride home from work when her car wasn't starting... those two come to mind. A few weeks ago when I was very sick with a stomach bug Mike helped take care of me.

2 – Stress Awareness Day: How stressful is your everyday life? How well do you deal with stress? Do you have any tried-and-true strategies for handling stress?
I sometimes can handle stress better than other times. It depends on what the stress is from. But usually I can help my stress by going for a walk or reading or doing something to get my mind off of my worries. Being outside helps in general I feel.

3 – Sandwich Day: Do you like sandwiches? What's your favourite sandwich filling?
Yes! Gosh, I love so many. I've had a recent taste for egg salad sandwiches so I may make those soon. But I love lunch meat sandwiches and the other day I had a tasty egg, bacon and cheese croissant sandwich at my parents that was delicious!

4 – Candy Day: Do you have a sweet tooth? What's your favourite candy?
Anything chocolate covered! I'm not big into chewy candies or gummies or sour stuff. Just give me the chocolate :-p

5 – Zero Tasking Day: The extra hour we get when daylight savings times change is often heralded as an opportunity for extra productivity, activity and ‘doing’. However, given that we’re all already ‘owed’ an hour every other time it changes, it seems a little unfair to expect us to work through it – as such, Zero Tasking Day is designed to dedicate this hour to ‘me time’, encouraging rest, relaxation and a distinct lack of work. How will you spend (or did you spend if you changed your clocks before this weekend), your extra hour? If you live somewhere that doesn't observe daylight savings time, what would you do if you had an extra hour of 'me time'?
Usually it's sleep that helps me get back on track when it comes to daylight savings time! So that's what happens honestly!

6 – Job Action Day: It is often suggested that people should focus on finding a job that they love. Today it is suggested that you should take your passions and bring them to the job you have, i.e. find a way to instill your love and passion for a particular career into any work you come into. Do you think this is good advice?
Yes, this is always good advice! We spend so much time at work - it might as well be something you are passionate about or that makes you happy and feel fulfilled.

7 – Hug a Bear Day: How do you feel about stuffed toys? Did you have a favourite teddy bear or other stuffed toy as a child? Do you have one now?
I still have stuffed toys! And have recently gotten two from Build-a-bear! Yes, I usually had a stuffed dog or animal of some kind as a kid. One of my favorites was this stuffed cow in a yellow dress... I still have her. :)

8 – Eating Healthy Day: How do you define eating healthily? Do you consider your diet to be healthy?
Adding more fruits and veggies to your diet. Eating less meat possibly? Eating less since I personally feel Americans eat far too much. I don't think I have a totally healthy diet, I could always use some improvement.

9 – British Pudding Day: Have you ever had British pudding? What is your favourite type of pudding?
No, I don't think I have had that! But chocolate or butterscotch regular pudding are my favorites.

10 – November is National Novel Writing Month: Have you ever taken part in National Novel Writing Month? How did it go?
No, but my boyfriend Mike does it. I think it's a nice project.

11 – Origami Day: Have you ever done origami?
No, but I've had some patients at work make me two birds I keep in my kitchen. And I bought this origami bird decoration somewhere over the years that I have hung up in my art room that is pretty.

12 – International Tongue Twister Day: Are you good at tongue twisters? What's your favourite tongue twister? And to take a different meaning of tongue twister, can you literally twist or crinkle the edge your tongue?
No, I'm not a fan! ^^;;

13 – World Kindness Day: What was the last kind thing someone did for you? What was the last kind thing you did for someone else?
My coworkers and boss helped me get grievance time off for a relative that just passed away this week. They are sort of funny about who counts for all of that and she wasn't biological at first it didn't get approve but then it did and I don't think it would of unless my coworkers said something in my favor. I wasn't expecting that, so it was thoughtful and kind of them.

14 – Loosen Up Lighten Up Day: Do you need to loosen up or lighten up?
Sometimes I think I do.

15 – Recycling Day: Do you recycle?
Yes, but I fear what I am cleaning out and putting together in the bins isn't going to the right place. :-/

16 – Button Day: Do you have a stash of buttons? Does or did someone in your family have such a collection?
Yes! I do! And people in my family have had collections, too. I love buttons and never know when I'll need one.

17 – Take a Hike Day: When was the last time you took a hike?
Maybe this past summer? Gosh, I'm trying to remember. I'd like to go on more hikes this year. That's a personal goal of mine.

18 – Princess Day: What is your opinion of Disney princesses? How do you feel about real life princesses?
Eh, I could take them or leave them honestly. Real life princesses seem to have complicated lives. I write about a princess in my comic and story who is unhappy about her future role to get married to a prince someday.

19 – Play Monopoly Day: Have you ever played Monopoly? Did you enjoy it?
Yes, I hate that game. XD

20 – Name Your PC Day: Does your PC (or laptop) have a name?
No, and I should! I'll get back to you on that!

21 – World Television Day: Did you watch TV as a child? Do you still watch TV? How much TV do you watch per week on average?
Yes, I usually watch it at other people's houses or at work. When the T.V is on in my house it's either Youtube or a movie of some kind. I'm not a huge T.V. person. Sometimes I watch more or less. This past week I only watched a bit of youtube since my firestick has been down and out.

22 – Go For a Ride Day: Do you ride anything? e.g. horse, motorcycle, sled, etc. When was the last time you rode?
I have rode motorcycles in the past and I've rode horses in the past.

No, I don't drink coffee. Give me some tea or hot chocolate! :-p

24 – Flossing Day: Do you floss regularly?
Yes, I do!

25 – Shopping Reminder Day: Shopping Reminder Day falls roughly a month before Christmas, and as such it’s the perfect reminder to go ahead and get started on all of your holiday shopping. How do you feel about holiday shopping? Do you need a reminder to go shopping for holiday gifts?
I hate shopping in general. It gives me a certain kind of anxiety. Holiday shopping is way worse.

26 – Cake Day: Cake or pie? Or something else?
Why not have both! ;-)

27 – Pins and Needles Day: Can you sew, either by hand or by machine? What was the last thing you sewed?
I sew by hand! A few months ago when I was fixing some of my work pants by sewing patches on them.

28 – French Toast Day: Do you like French toast?
Yes, I love it.

29 – Throw Out Your Leftovers Day: How do you feel about leftovers? Are you happy to eat the same food more than once in a row, or do you crave variety in your diet? Do you take leftovers home from a restaurant when/if you eat out?
I love leftovers and try to gobble them up before they go bad since I hate wasting food. Yes, I take leftovers home from restaurants. I try to order smaller meals when I go out to avoid this happening.

30 – Stay Home Because Your Well Day: Have you ever taken a mental health day from your job, or just decided not to go to work even though you weren't sick, because you felt like staying home or for some other reason?

a_natural_beauty: (Default)
I just want to get these done with since they have been lingering on and on it feels like. I wonder if anyone reads them... They are fun to think about and answer at least. Just a few more months left! https://jo.dreamwidth.org/2802730.html#cutid1

October

1 – International Day of Older Persons: David Bowie once said that ageing is an extraordinary process whereby you become the person you always should have been. Do you agree?
I think there is some truth to that... To a point. But I feel like this question also can have some complicated answers, too.

2 – World Architecture Day: Are you a keen observer of architecture, or do you mostly notice it when you see architectural oddities, e.g. a particularly ugly building, or a very unusual house design — that sort of thing?
I don't think I'm too keen on architecture, but I do enjoy enough of it when I am around it. Going into cities and places with older buildings always is a nice change of pace. I come from a family of masons so I've always appreciated a good brick building.

3 – Virus Appreciation Day: OK, so it's been almost three years since Covid rocked the world. Is there ANYTHING you appreciate about that particular virus — well, maybe not the virus itself, but the impact it had on workplace arrangements, or social norms, etc.?
I feel like it taught us that nothing is 100% certain meaning we will always have new discoveries, new viruses, new cures, new breakthroughs, ect. We just have to support science and be open to learning about things and the proper way to handle such issues.

4 – Improve Your Office Day: Whether it's your home office or your at-the-office office, what changes would improve your office experience?
Maybe make it somewhere I felt more motivated to be at? I'm going to be moving my little office room soon down stairs to another room I have and maybe that'll help.

5 – Global James Bond Day: Are you a Bond fan (either books or films or both)? Who is your favourite Bond actor? Do you have a favourite Bond theme song?
I'm not a fan. I've seen some movies, but besides that I couldn't tell you much else.

6 – Mad Hatter Day: Mad Hatter Day celebrates the Mad Hatter, from Alice In Wonderland and is the perfect opportunity for you to bring out your daft side. Do you have a silly side? Is there anything or anyone who always manages to get you acting silly?
At times I think I can be silly, but it just depends. Mostly animals. Like dogs for example. When I'm playing with my parents dog Fynn or our dog Wiley I get silly.

7 – World Space Week: October 4-10 is World Space Week. How does the exploration of space benefit society? Do you think the money spent on space exploration could be better spent on the myriad problems here on Earth?
I think we should spend more money and time taking care of our own planet.

8 – International Podiatry Day: Do you try to reguarly take care of your feet, or do you tend to neglect them until something crops up -- dry, cracked heels, ingrown toenails, blisters, corns, etc.? Have you ever been to a podiatrist (or chiropodist depending on where you live)? Do you get pedicures regularly?
Yes, I am a frim believer in taking care of our feet! When I was a home health aide and an STNA I took care of so many bad feet due to so many issues. I have never been to a podiatrist. I haven't been to get a pedicure but maybe someday I will!

9 – Canadian Thanksgiving Day: Canadian Thanksgiving is associated with the European tradition of harvest festivals. Does your country celebrate the yearly harvest with a festival or other form of commemoration?
Yes, I live in America and I celebrate it with friends and family when I see them. I feel like thanksgiving is a rushed holiday and people don't give it the time they should.

10 – Shift10 Day: SHIFT10 Day was created to encourage shoppers to shift 10% of their spending into their local economies to support local businesses, farmers' markets, and other alternatives to big box stores. Do you try to shop locally as much as possible or do the ease and convenience of big box stores and online juggernauts like Amazon win out more often than not?
Yes, I try to be more of a local shopper. It's important for so many reasons. I feel and fear online shopping will someday take over and that makes me sad.

11 – International Post Card Week: Did you ever trade or collect postcards? When was the last time you received one? When was the last time you sent a post card to someone?
I have a few postcards! I got them at the last stamp show I was at a few months ago -- in October! They were first day covers showing off certain kinds of stamps. I usually don't send or receive them but I do like them!

12 – World Sight Day: How good is your eyesight? When did you last have an eye exam? Would you ever consider lasik surgery to improve your vision?
My eyesight is not very good. I wear glasses and without them I have a hard time seeing far away. I went this past year. No, I don't think I would want that kind of surgery.

13 – Train Your Brain Day: Do you do any exercises aimed at (or claiming to) help keep your brain sharp and improve your memory?
I should look into doing more of these, like cross words and such.

14 – Dessert Day! Who doesn't love dessert? Is a dessert a regular part of your evening meal, or more of a special occasion sort of thing? Or do you mostly indulge in dessert when you eat out? Do you have a favourite dessert to make? Do you have a favourite dessert to order when eating out?
A guilty pleasure of mine is to make cookies or brownie's. But I love so many different kinds and I'm always up for trying a new kind of dessert.

15 – Mushroom Day: Do you like mushrooms? Do you have a favourite type of mushroom? In what dishes are you most likely to use mushrooms?
I'm trying to think of the names of the ones I've eaten. They were all good. So far I don't think I've had a mushroom I didn't like. I like them with a-lot of things - on pizza, in salads, even cooked or raw on the side of another dish. My grandfather knew how to identity and pick wild mushrooms.

16 – Liqueur Day: Amaretto! Grand Marnier! Kahlua! Creme de Menthe! A liqueur is an alcoholic beverage made from a distilled spirit. Distillers flavor the spirit with fruit, cream, herbs, spices, flowers, or nuts. They may have fallen out of favour due to the increasingly broad selection of spirits available in seasonal, fragrant, and often curious flavors (vodkas and rums in particular), but they haven't disappeared. Have you ever had a liqueur? Do you have a favourite?
I think I may have? But I can't recall.

17 – Mulligan Day: Commonly used in games such as golf, the term ‘mulligan’ derives from the 1920s when Canadian golfer David Mulligan made a mistake during a game and retook his shot. Since then, to ‘call a mulligan’ means the chance to try again. Is there anything in your life you'd like a second chance at?
That's a good question.... I'm not sure. I've been trying to live in the present and to not have any regrets. But I will think this one over some.

18 – International Legging Day: Do you wear leggings? If yes, do you wear them mostly when exercising, or do you wear them outside of the gym?
Yes! I love leggings and wear them often! For both!

19 – Free Speech Week: There is a lot of talk about the so-called "cancelling" of individuals who are known for espousing controversial views. Would a better way of framing it be "accountability" rather than "cancelling", with the emphasis being on the reality that free speech isn't consequence-free?
Yes, I think constant fact checking helps. I feel like a-lot of those controversial views can lead to hate and greater issues down the road. So trying to stop and bring to light the actual facts helps. Also some sort of accountability would help.

20 – Information Overload Day: We've all likely suffered from this at some point in time, if not almost daily. What do you do to limit the flow of information coming to you? Do you put your phone on "Do Not Disturb"? Log out of your email client? Avoid social media? Read a book or go for a walk instead of watching the news?
This is a great question! I mostly ignore my phone when I'm home and just limit what I watch and when I watch the news. But as of lately I have turned off most all news because it has been stressing me out too much. I do take social media breaks, too. Those are needed.

21 – International Walk to School Month: Did you walk to school as a child? Are parents today too over-protective to let their children walk to school?
Yes, I would walk to school as a kid when the weather was nice. We lived close enough we could do that or ride the bus. No, I think parents should be protective with their little ones. There are a good amount of cameras out there but at the same time I feel you can never be too careful.

22 – Colour Day: National Colour Day focuses on the impact colour has on each of us. Beyond having a favourite colour, are there colours that evoke specific feelings or memories in you? Colours you avoid or dislike because they remind you of something you'd rather forget, or give off "bad vibes"? Is there a colour that immediately brightens your mood, or calms you? Do you decorate your home with lots of bright colours? How important is colour in your life?
Yes, I feel like colors are very important. I feel like they can help us shape our feelings and emotions. They can express how we are feeling, too. Usually yellow brightens my mood - which is why it is my favorite color. And usually blues or greens calm me. I try to have some bright colors around but I also like to have some clamer, more down to earth colors around, too.

23 – iPod Day: Have you ever owned an iPod (or other portable media player)? Do you remember those first songs? Do you still listen to them? What have you become in the days that have past, and do you smile with nostalgia or cringe with embarrassment as you remember your favorites from ages gone by?
I used to have a portable c-d player and then I had a mp3 player. Yes, I do remember those songs. I feel a bit of both emotions when I listen to some of my older musical tastes. I still listen to a-lot of that music.

24 – United Nations Day: Is the UN still an important international player? Do you think the UN Security Council membership should be expanded?
I do think they are an important international player. I think expanding it would help. And I also wish they would hurry up and let Ukraine join.

25 – International Artist Day: do you have any art in your home -- paintings, sculptures, etc.? Do you ever visit art galleries? Do you dabble in any type of art yourself?
Yes, I have a painting I've done in almost every room of my house! And I love going to art museums. I think most of you know, but I like to draw, paint, use different traditional art tools. I need to get back into it again.

26 – Mincemeat Day: Have you ever tried mincemeat (pie, or tarts)? Do you like it? Do you have an old family mincemeat recipe that gets dragged out in time for the holidays season?
Yes, I love pies! I think my favorites are apple pie and pumpkin pie.

27 – Cranky Co-Workers Day: Do you have (or did you have if no longer working) any chronically cranky co-workers? Or maybe you were the cranky co-worker? When was the last thing you let yourself be cranky, and to voice your thoughts about something that annoyed you?
Yes, I feel like I currently have some cranky coworkers. Yesterday at work we were venting about a few things. It happens from time to time.

28 – International Animation Day: What is your favourite animated film or TV series?
One piece is my favorite anime and two of my favorite animated movies are Spirited away and Howls moving castle.

29 – Internet Day and Cyber-security Awareness Month: Today is both national Internet day and Cyber-security Awareness Month. Are you, or do you try to be, fairly vigilant about how you use the internet, and keeping yourself safe online? Do you tend to use the same password across most sites? Have you ever suffered a malware infection?
I think I could probably be safer about it. Sadly I did get my discord account hacked into/spammed this past fall and that was a very unpleasant experience. I am guilty of using a-lot of the same passwords but I think I've been getting better at that.

30 – Haunted Refrigerator Night: Sometimes you forget about certain things that are in your fridge. And while you may have forgotten about them, they certainly haven't forgotten about you. Instead, they sit lurking in the back of the refrigerator waiting for you to delve into its darkest corners and unleash the disgusting rotten mess that lurks within those Tupperware sarcophagi. Is there anything lurking in the deepest recesses of your fridge that you're afraid to look at or deal with?
No, I don't think so. I actually got rid of a few things from my refrigerator this week and last.

31 – Magic Day: Have you ever seen magic performed live? Have you ever tried to learn a few tricks yourself?
Yes, I do recall going to a circus or two and seeing magic acts performed. No, I have not tried learning.

Since I am seeing this all the way through the end here are the rest of the 2023 questions! I'm on the month of September now. Getting close! Here is the list of questions: https://jo.dreamwidth.org/2802730.html#cutid1

September
1 – World Letter Writing Day: Do you still write actual letters to anyone (email doesn't count!)? Did you have penpals when you were young(er)? Do you miss receiving actual letters in the mail (or any mail other than junk/flyers)?
When I send stamps to a new person I try to add a-little note thanking them and asking how they got into the hobby. When I send cards out I write a little bit, too. So yes, when the mood strikes I like to write letters.

2 – Bring Your Manners to Work Day: Bring Your Manners To Work Day was created by The Protocol School of Washington to remind people of the importance of treating people with courtesy and respect in the workplace. How important is it to you to have fulfilling relationships both with colleagues and customers/clients? Have the challenges posed by COVID changed how you view the concepts of courtesy and respect in the workplace?
This feels like a no brainer! It is important! I try to be kind to each and every person I am around. During the start of covid I was a home health aide and I didn't have a ton of interaction with my coworkers anyway. It has changed for many people!

3 – World Beard Day: Beards -- yay or nay?
Hey, you do you. If you want a beard - great! If you don't then just don't!

4 – Mouthguard Day: Have you ever had to wear a mouthguard, either because you practised a certain sport, or as protection because you tend to grind your teeth at night, or for some other reason?
Nope!

5 – Be Late For Something Day: Does the mere thought of "celebrating" this cause you anxiety? Should lateness ever be celebrated?
Yes, I hate being late. When I have to go somewhere I always try to be early.

6 – Fight Procrastination Day: Procrastination can really be the bane of our existence, with another day coming around the corner, there’s no real reason that we can’t put it off till tomorrow is there? What are some of the things you do to fight putting off those things you keep putting off? To-do lists? Setting your alarm for earlier? Enlisting friends or family to give you a hand?
I am guilty of this! I've gotten a bit worse about it. Mostly it's by the end of the day I'm tired from work and other things I must do, so I usually just nap or read at night. Which is fine but not when I have a-lot of other hobbies that need my attention. :-p

7 – Buy A Book Day: Do you buy books or are you pretty much a borrower -- be it from the library or friends and family? What was your most recent book purchase? Did you buy it for yourself, or as a gift for someone else?
I do both! I do own soooo many books. But I do like to support and get out books from my local library. :) My most recent book purchase was either for myself or my boyfriend.

8 – Star Trek Day: Star Trek speaks of a hope-filled future where our nationality no longer matters, and yet each of our personal heritages is still something we can be proud of. We are all citizens of the same quadrant of the galaxy, and at the end of the day that’s all that matters. Are you a Trekkie/Trekker? If you are at least somewhat "into" Star Trek, which series have you watched at least some of? Do you have thoughts on the JJ Abrams reboot films?
I am not a fan. I did get a small dose of Star Treck from my one ex and his family. They were pretty good fans.

9 – International Sudoku Day: Do you sudoku, or are you more of a crosswords puzzle person?
I like word searches. But I will try a sudoku or a crossword from time to time.

10 – Arts in Education Week: Every year beginning the second Sunday in September, National Arts in Education Week celebrates the transformative powers of creative skills. Sadly, governments everywhere are cutting arts programs in schools, citing budget concerns, or to favour more "career-oriented" programs. Did you take any type of art courses in school (art, music, dance, etc.)? What benefits are there to arts education?
Yes, I took art class every year I was able to. And chorus, too. Then also in high school I was a member of the school newspaper and wrote articles as well as did editorial cartoons.

11 – No News is Good News Day: From where to you get most of your news? Do you find the daily onslaught of usually pretty bad news overwhelming? Do you take, or have you taken, breaks from news – essentially avoiding all news as much as possible?
I think I get most of my news from NPR. But lately I have been taking in the news less and less. It has been stressing me out.

12 – Day of Encouragement: Are you the type of person who naturally tries to encourage others when they need it? Does anyone in your life do the same for you?
Yes, I try to do this. And I think I have a few people who do this for me.

13 – Defy Superstition Day: From throwing salt over your shoulder if you spill some, avoiding stepping on cracks in the pavement, to worrying about black cats, the world is full of superstitions. Even if your rational mind knows these strange dictates have no influence on your life, are there any superstitions you do find yourself observing? Have you ever done something considered a superstition that actually happened, e.g. you broke a mirror and then had seven incredibly unlucky years?
No, I'm not normally a superstitious person.

14 – Live Creative Day: Live Creative Day encourages us to let the world see our creativity all day long. How can you bring more creativity into your daily tasks, either at work, or at home?
That's a good question... I'm not sure... But I'm sure it can be done!

15 – International Day of Democracy: How would you rate the health of your country's democracy and democratic institutions (assuming you live in one!)? What could be done to strengthen your country's democratic institutions?
Right now...? Ugh... Not the best.... >.>

16 – Locate an Old Friend Day: Do you have an old friend with whom you've lost touch? Have you tried to find them via social media (e.g. Facebook, LinkdIn, etc.,) or asking other mutual friends about them?
This past spring I did get in touch with an old friend. It was alright. We talk from time to time. But aren't as close as we used to be.

17 – Indoor Plant Week: This week marks the start of National Indoor Plant Week. Do you have indoor plants or do you prefer to do outdoor gardening? Do you have a green thumb, or do you seek out plants that are difficult to kill?
Yes! I love my indoor plant babies. I need to write an updated post on all my little plant friends. :D

18 – Read an Ebook Day: Are you partial to ebooks? What are some advantages of ebooks over other formats? What sort of ereader do you use -- kindle, kobo, tablet, other? Are there some types of books that really don't work as ebooks?
I don't use one. I like to just read my regular old books.

19 – Talk Like a Pirate Day: Do you have a favourite book, film, or TV show about pirates?
It's not accurate to real life but my favorite anime series is One Piece. I should read more about pirates. My old Black Moore fish was named after the famous Black Beard pirate!

20 –Fried Rice Day AND Pepperoni Pizza Day: September 20 is both Fried Rice Day and Pepperoni Pizza Day. Which do you prefer? Do you make your own fried rice and/or pizza, or is it take-out only?
I like both. It depends on my mood. Sometimes I'm just in a certain mood. And I like to get different foods in my gut. I like to make both when it comes to pizza and fired rice!

21 – World Gratitude Day: For what (or who) are you grateful?
My home sweet home! :D I could go on, but I think that's number one.

22 – World Car-Free Day: Would it be possible for you to go entirely car-free today?
If we had public buses here where I live I would consider it. I live out in the country where it's usually 15 minutes to 30 minutes to get to most places by car. So that would make my life difficult unless we had a bus system.

23 – Redhead Appreciation Day: Why are redheads frequently made fun of or maligned (e.g. some cultures have believed that women who have red hair are witches, there's a "Kick A Ginger Day")? Do you like red hair? Do you know anyone with red hair?
Yes, I like gingers. I feel like there is a good number of hate towards many different things like this. Like I'm a blonde and I heard a good number of blonde jokes. People can just be cruel.

24 – World Rivers Day: Do you live, or have you ever lived, near a river? Are the rivers in your area under threat from climate change?
I live near a creek. ^^;; I do feel like they are under threat all over because of climate change. I'm not sure in my area through...

25 – Better Breakfast Day: What does your breakfast usually consist of, and in what ways do you think you could make it a better breakfast?
On a normal day it is usually cereal, oatmeal or something light like applesauce or toast. When I have more time to cook I like to make other things like omelets, pancakes, sausage, bacon, ect.

26 – Piano Month: September is Piano Month. Did you ever take piano lessons as a kid (or even as an adult)? If yes, do you still play? If not, do wish you had? Did you learn any other instrument?
No, I wish I did learn a musical instrument at times. I have tried my hand at a violin and a guitar.

27 – World Tourism Day: When you visit a new place, do you hit all the main tourist attractions or do you prefer to travel off the beaten path? Do you live in a place that has any famous tourist attractions?
I try to do a bit of both. Mike and I recently went on a trip and I think it was one of the last days we were out we went around the area our hotel was and found some neat shops. It was a good time.

28 – Good Neighbo(u)r Day: Are you a good neighbour? Do you even know your neighbours? Have you ever had any really bad experiences with a neighbour?
I try to be! I know all of my neighbors and a good number of people on my street. Luckily I haven't had any bad experiences with a neighbor.

29 – Ask A Stupid Question Day: There's no such thing as a stupid question except for the one you choose not to ask. When you were in school, did you hesitate to ask questions because you were afraid they were stupid questions? Did you make fun of other students who asked questions that struck you as stupid? As an adult, do you still hesitate to ask questions you think are stupid? Do you find yourself secretly hoping someone else will ask the question so you won't have to?
I feel like I did hesitate a-lot in school. Not just asking questions - but answering them, too. As an adult I feel I ask a-lot of questions. Maybe I'm making up for lost time!

30 – International Podcast Day: Are you a podcast fan? What are some of your favourites? How do you find out about new podcasts that might interest you?
Yes, I need to listen to more... the one I have been listening to as of lately is called "into the fall line" I think. It's about missing person cases. I find them on youtube.

Here I am being the weirdo I am (I mean that in a good way! :-p) doing the rest of these questions from 2023.. now we are in August. If anyone is curious to check them out, here is the list: https://jo.dreamwidth.org/2802730.html#cutid1

August
1 – World Wide Web Day: Think about how much of what you do each day you do online. If the internet disappeared tomorrow, how would that impact your life? How would you have to start doing things differently (or go back to a pre-internet way of doing things)?
I think it would effect me somewhat negatively but I would eventually get over it and go about life as usual. I grew up without internet and then later in life - after the age of 16 I think(?) we got dial up and even that was only used after night time.

2 – Colouring Book Day: Were colouring books something you enjoyed as a child? Adult colouring is now a huge trend. Do you do colouring as an adult, or would you consider engaging in this activity?
Yes! I enjoyed them as both a kid and now as an adult. I've been meaning to use mine more. I have a good collection of coloring books.

3 – Clean Your Floors Day: How often do you clean your floors? Do you have to deal with different types of flooring (carpeting in some rooms, hardwood, tiles, linoleum in others)? Do you use a regular vacuum cleaner or a robovac, or both? Have you ever gotten down on your hands and knees and actually scrubbed a floor – the whole floor, not just one stubborn stain?
I have a good mix of hard floors and carpet in my house. I usually run the sweeper on my carpet every few weeks since it's just me. And same with mopping the other floors, I usually do that every couple of weeks. No, I have never got down to scrub the whole floor by hand. That seems exhausting! :-o

4 – Chocolate Chip Cookie Day: Are you a fan of chocolate chip cookies? Are you a chocolate chip cookie traditionalist, or do you like variations -- with nuts, or different types of chocolate, etc.? Do you have a favourite brand, or do you buy them from a bakery? Do you make your own? Will you share your favourite recipe?
Chocolate chip cookies are some of my favorite! I like all kinds - regular, nuts, different types of chocolate I will most likely love them all.

5 – Blogger Day: This day was created to celebrate Blogger, one of the oldest blogging sites. Did you ever have a blog on Blogger? What about on any other blogging sites (aside from Dreamwidth/LiveJournal), e.g. WordPress? Have you ever hosted a blog on your own webspace?
This is my first blogging site I have been a part of! And I am happy to be here!

6 – Friendship Day: Do friendships change over time? Is friendship important to you? What is your definition of a good friend? Do you think you're a good friend?
Yes, they do change over time for sure. And yes, friendship is important to me. A good friend to me is someone who doesn't judge you. They respect you and care about you regardless of anything else.

7 – International Clown Week: The first full week of August is International Clown Week: True or False -- clowns are scary and should not be celebrated.
I'm not a fan of clowns. And I will leave it at that.

8 – International Cat Day: Are you a cat person? Have you ever had, or do you have, cats as pets? Do you have a favourite breed of cat?
Yes, I have had a few cats over the years. They can make lovely companions. Black cats are my favorite. <3

9 – Book Lovers Day: Do you love books? Have you always been a reader? Did your parents read to you when you were young? What were some of your favourite books or authors as a child? How has your taste in books evolved over time?
I think that is one of the first things anyone will learn about me. Yes, I love books! I have always been a reader! Yes, my mom usually read to me as a child. I'm not sure it has changed much... I read almost everything I can get my hands on. I'm just not a huge fan of mussy romances or those seral killer books that go into detail about how they do their crimes. I'm become more open to fantasy and scifi lately.

10 – Duran Duran Appreciation Day: Do you appreciate Duran Duran – a band who pushed the limits of acceptable music video content and helped change the face of new wave music in the 1980s? Do you have a fave Duran Duran song or album?
I can't think of a favorite song or album of them. But I do respect them.

11 – Play in the Sand Day: As a child, did you enjoy playing in the sand – either at the beach, or in a sandbox? Did you build sandcastles? As an adult, is this something that still appeals to you?
Yes, I loved it as a kid and I still love it. I think I will always love being in the sand!

12 – Garage Sale Day (or Boot Sale, in the UK): Do you regularly, or occasionally, check out garage sales in your area? Have you ever organized one yourself, or in conjunction with some neighbours?
Whenever I am able to! I love looking through other people's stuff to see what they have for sale. I have had two since I bought my house. It's a-lot of work. I'm not sure if I will have another in the future.

13 – International Lefthanders Day: Are you, or is anyone close to you lefthanded? Do you know anyone who, as a natural leftie, was forced to learn to use their right hand, either by their parents, or at school?
I think I may have a few friends who are lefthanders. I know one of my coworkers are lefthanded.

14 – Bargain Hunting Week: Do you make a point of trying to find the best deals when you need to buy something? What is one of the best bargains you've ever come across?
When I am in a store I like to check the clearance section. But honestly I'm not a huge fan of shopping and spending money. So I don't like going shopping much. Some of the stuff I have bought for my house were good deals - like my fridge I got pretty cheap because it had a few marks and dents on the front - I've had it for over 12 years now!

15 – Relaxation Day: What are some of your favourite ways to relax?
Naps, reading, doing a word search and doing a jigsaw puzzle are a few ways.

16 – Elvis Week: Are you, or were you, an Elvis Presley fan?
I'm not exactly a fan but I know and like enough songs. My grandma loved him very much and that goes into how and why I started collecting postal stamps.

17 – Thrift Shop Day: Do you regularly, or even occasionally, shop at thrift shops? Do you donate to them? What was one of your best or favourite thrift shop finds?ader
Yes, I love them! I go thrift store shopping each and every time I can. And I do donate to them, too. I've gotten some very good clothes, purses and books at different thrift stores.

18 – Serendipity Day: Serendipity is an unplanned fortunate discovery. Have you ever experienced a particularly serendipitous moment?
I'm sure I have... I just can't think of one right off the top of my head.

19 – Break the Monotony Day: There’s a certain security in a steady schedule, but too much of the same thing gets you stuck in a rut and the monotony can just plain kill you. When was the last time you took a day to do something spontaneous?
Usually my days off I try to mix it up and I either go out or I work on stuff around my house and yard. I sort of like having a steady schedule and I don't think it gets me in a rut. But that's at least my thoughts on the matter... ^^;;

20 – Radio Day: Do you still listen to the radio? Do you have an actual radio, or do you listen to satellite or streaming radio? What about talk radio -- are you a fan?
Yep! I love listening to the radio! I have several. Three in my house. And I listen to the one in my car. I prefer listening to music but I don't mind talk radio, too.

21 – Poet's Day: Do you write poetry? Do you even like poetry? Do you have a favourite poet or poem?
No, I do not. And I'm not a huge fan of reading it either.

22 – World Plant Milk Day: Almond milk, oat milk, soy milk... Do you use plant-based milk rather than dairy milk? If yes, do you use it instead of dairy in everything (tea/coffee, baking, cereal, etc.) or only in specific instances? Have you tried various types of plant milk? Do you have a favourite?
I should try more of these kinds of milk. I do not have a favorite. Right now my milk needs are pretty basic.

23 – Ride the Wind Day: Have you ever been sky-diving? What about hang-gliding? If not, would you ever try either (both) of those activities? What about something tamer, such as kite-flying or sailing?
NO! I am scared of heights so I don't think I'd want to go sky diving. I have no interest in doing that.

24 – International Strange Music Day: What is the oddest music you've ever listened to?
Gosh, I'm not sure.... I feel like it depends on who you ask and what they consider "odd music". Some of the indie music bands I listen to may be considered odd.

25 – Kiss and Make Up Day: Is there anyone with whom you have a long-standing argument or conflict? What would it take to resolve the matter? If you're currently at peace with everyone in your life, have you ever had a disagreement with someone that lasted more than a few hours/days?
There was a friend of mine who I had a falling out with. We are on good terms now but not the friends we used to be. She still reminds me that it's hard to trust certain people and to be careful what secrets you share. I learned a lesson with that one. It lasted a year? Maybe less? Gosh, I can't remember.

26 – Toilet Paper Day: This is a day we can all get our behinds behind! Did you know that toilet paper began its wide use in China by the 6th century? And by the 14th century, the Chinese had made advancements in toilet care, producing packages of special paper people could use in their wiping endeavors. In fact, it is estimated that the culture produced at least 10 million packages of toilet paper each year! So enquiring minds want to know -- do you hang your toilet paper so the paper hangs over or under? Do you have a favourite brand? Do you seek out more eco-friendly types of toilet paper, e.g. bamboo toilet paper or toilet paper made from recycled fiber?
I did not know the history of it! That's interesting! I should try to find more eco friendly types.

27 – Just Because Day: This day is meant to celebrate lazy afternoons at the beach, taking time off and doing whatever you want or feel like in the moment. So what will you do just because? Or what would you like to do just because if you can't actually do any just-becausing today?
Today I am off from work and I plan on maybe playing some video games just because. Also because it's been like two weeks since I last picked up my switch! :-p

28 – Crackers Over the Keyboard Day: Do you eat at your computer? Do you regularly clean (or try to clean) your keyboard? Have you ever had any mishaps while attempting to clean your keyboard?
I try not to make a habit of it. But sometimes I do eat at my laptop. I should probably clean it more often!

29 – Lemon Juice Day: Is lemon juice a staple in your kitchen? Do you use it for non-culinary purposes? Do you have a favourite lemon-flavoured food or beverage?
I love adding lemon to different drinks - usually water. I haven't had lemon Juice too much. Maybe I will try it more often. When I eat fish it usually tastes good on that.

30 – Beach Day: Do you like going to the beach? When was the last time you were seaside?
Yes, I love it! Maybe like 6 or 7 years ago? Gosh... maybe longer. I've been to the east and west coasts and loved them both. Id' like to go back someday!

31 – We Love Memoirs Day: Do you?
Sometimes! Depending on what it is, they can be quite good.
a_natural_beauty: (Default)
The reason I am still doing these is because I'm not a quitter and I like to see things to the end... if you are curious about the whole list: https://jo.dreamwidth.org/2802730.html#cutid1

July
1 – Second Half of the Year Day: How would you rate the first half of this year? Are there things you could change going forward to make the second half of the year better?
Since I am answering these like a mad woman - a few years and a few months off - I don't think this one counts! We are only 4 days into 2025 after all :-p

2 – I Forgot Day: Are you forgetful? Do you have trouble remembering holidays, anniversaries, birthdays, doctors' appointments, etc.? Do you have any tricks or aids to help you remember important dates?
Yes, I can be quite forgetful! I don't have any special tricks. Mostly I just try to write things down or use my phone to help keep track of stuff.

3 – International Plastic Bag Free Day: Some localities are banning the use of plastic bags or charging a small amount for each one used. Is this an initiative where you live? Have you taken steps to reduce or eliminate the number of plastic bags that you use? Is there something for which you use plastic bags that you can't think of anything else that you could use for that purpose?
I use reusable bags almost every time I shop now. I think more people should. It's honestly not that hard once you get in the habit.

4 – Alice in Wonderland Day: Have you read Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and/or Through the Looking Glass? What about the various film adaptations -- have you seen any of those?
No, I think I do have it on my reading list. I would like to read it at some point in the future.

5 – Mechanical Pencil Day: Mechanical pencils are inherently superior to regular pencils if only for one reason: you don't have to sharpen them. Do you, or did you, use mechanical pencils at school or on the job, or just out of personal preference?
No, I was never a fan of mechanical pencils. I have some but I never use them.

6 – Fried Chicken Day: Do you like fried chicken? Do you make your own, or do you prefer take-out? What's your favourite place to get fried chicken?
Yes, I do like fried chicken. I have never made friend chicken myself. Maybe I should try it out someday. I don't really have a favorite place to get it at.

7 – Tell the Truth Day: What would happen if everyone on earth spoke only the 100% truth today -- no sugar-coating or lying by omission?
Maybe that would be a good thing? Or a bad thing! I'm not sure....

8 – SCUD Day: SCUD Day stands for "Savor the Comic, Unplug the Drama" Day, and encourages those of us whose lives might have a touch too much drama to step back, relax, and enjoy the funnier side of life. Is there too much drama in your life right now? Even if there isn't, what would you do to turn the drama down a bit and enjoy a good laugh instead?
Sometimes there is some drama in my life. But over the years I've tried to limit my time around those who cause drama. Mostly I just avoid situations where it may happen.

9 – Dimples Day: Only 20-30% of the entire world population has dimples. Are you one of these rare individuals? What type of dimple do you have -- dimple on both cheeks, chin dimple, one-sided cheek dimple, corner of the mouth dimple?
I do not have dimples. But I do find them super cute!

10 – Don't Step on a Bee Day: is an important reminder that the fate of the common bee lies in the balance – with bee numbers in some countries having halved in the last decade with no apparent cause. Some localities are taking measures to help the bee population, for example, planting wildflowers by the side of roads/on road medians or encouraging residents to move away from a manicured lawn to a yard full of flowers. Are you aware of any such measures where you live? Do you agree that if bees disappear, life would change significantly for humans (and not in a good way)?
Yes, I fully agree with this! I love all bees! I think they need more care and attention.

11 – World Population Day: World Population Day comes along each year to remind us that our present rate of population growth is unsustainable, and the present social and logistical issues we are experiencing to meet the demand of that population will only get worse if we don't do something. What can be done to slow population growth? Can we effectively fight climate change without addressing the global population issue?
Don't have so many babies! Adopt if you want to have kids!

12 – Simplicity Day: What steps could you take to declutter your life, both mentally and physically, and keep things simple?
I'm a believer in what environment we live in is what we become. If we live in clutter or mess we will be similar to that. I feel like a-lot of mental health issues can be linked to hoarders and bad living situations with too much clutter.

13 – Embrace your Geekness Day: A geek is someone who is completely obsessed with one or more subjects, and can speak fluently on it for hours, sounding like a walking encyclopedia of geeky facts. In what ways would you describe yourself as geeky?
Oh my gosh, where do I start? There are a-lot of things that I "geek out" about! Lately it's been books for me. But I also love jigsaw puzzles, stamp collecting, being in nature, drawing and creating art, traveling to name a few...

14 – Mac & Cheese Day: Macaroni and cheese is a comfort dish for many, an old childhood favourite. In Canada, it's practically a national dish if you're referring to good old KD -- Kraft Dinner, or Kraft Macaroni and Cheese Dinner. Even upscale restaurants are featuring gourmet variations of this classic. Was mac & cheese something you ate as a kid? Do you still eat it regularly, or occasionally? If you've tried restaurant variations, what is the most interesting take on mac & cheese that you've come across?
I eat it very rarely. I just don't have a huge taste for it anymore. But I have eaten it so much over the years. I'm pretty basic with my Mac&Cheese flavors. I have had it with white cheese and that was pretty good.

15 – Give Something Away Day: What is one thing of yours that you would consider giving away to someone in need?
Clothes! I have so many extra clothes that I'm sure someone else could use. :)

16 – Personal Chef Day: If you could afford it, would you like to have a personal chef? Would you have them cook all your meals, or only supper/dinner?
No, I don't think I would. If I had that kind of money I would be going on a nice vacation somewhere.

17 – Tattoo Day: Do you have any tattoos? If yes, how many, what and where are they? If you don't, would you ever consider getting one? Is yes, where on your body would it be, and what would you likely get tattooed? If no, why not?
No, I do not. I have thought in the past about getting a tattoo. But I'm glad I haven't. I don't think there is anything I like enough to get tattooed on me.

18 – World Listening Day: Rather than simply listening to other people talk, World Listening Day was created to draw attention to the way humans need to be listening to the world around us, including environmental awareness, soundscapes and acoustic ecology. What does the world around you sound like right now?
I feel like the world around me sounds like it's mostly calm but with a hint of anxiety.

19 – Daiquiri Day: Do you drink daiquiris, or any other cocktails? Do you make your own at home or are they something you reserve for an evening out at a restaurant or other social event?
I have never had a daiquri. And I have never had a cocktail. Maybe I'll try one someday. But I don't drink much anymore these days.

20 – International Chess Day: Do you play, or have you ever played, chess?
No, But I do want to learn how to play someday!

21 – Junk Food Day: What is your favourite junk food? Is this something you eat regularly, or is it something you turn to when you're stressed, or that you reserve as a special treat or reward for yourself?
Cookies are my favorite! I try not to eat them all the time. But lately due to stress and sadness I've been eating more than I care to admit.

22 – Day Of the Cowboy: Do you like Westerns (either books, movies, or TV shows)? What about country and western music?
It depends on how they are portrayed. I've seen some that seem pretty cool and others not so much. My mom's dad was a cowboy of sorts. They called him "The Kansas kid" back in the day in newspapers.

23 – Peanut Butter and Chocolate Day: Match made in heaven or something to be avoided at all costs?
Oh made in heaven for sure! :D

24 – Everybody Deserves a Massage Week: The third week of July is Everybody Deserves a Massage Week. Do you go for regular (or occasional) massages? Have you tried different types of massage: Swedish, Shiatsu, deep tissue, etc.? Do you have a favourite?
I should go somewhere and get a professional one someday. I haven't gone to one.

25 – Hot Fudge Sundae Day OR Wine and Cheese Day: Which would you go for?
Oh I love both! But I think I love wine and cheese more! :-p

26 – All or Nothing Day: If it was your last day on Earth, what would you do?
Gosh, I don't know... Maybe try to visit my loved ones and be with them. Write out a quick will for my belongings and property!

27 – Refreshment Day: What is your go-to refreshment on hot summer days? Is this something you enjoy year-round, or that you mainly drink in the summer?
I would have to say either Italian ice or ice cream! Or just sticking my head in my freezer!

28 – Talk in an Elevator Day: If you're with another person (or a group of people) and you get into an elevator, do you continue any conversation you were engaged in, or do you wait until you step out of the elevator? Does it unnerve or annoy you if someone starts talking to you in an elevator?
It depends on the people/person. If they don't want to talk to me I won't pressure them or keep trying. No, whoever wants to talk to me wherever can do so. I highly doubt I would get mad.

29 – Rain Day: Do you like rainy days? Does it rain a lot where you live? Have you ever been caught in a torrential downpour?
Yes, in moderation. I don't like a ton of rain at once. I don't think it rains a ton. But with climate change I think we are going to get wetter times of the year during winter and sping.

30 – Whistleblower Day: Part of living in a country with a fair rule of law is making sure that corruption and misconduct do not go unnoticed. A whistleblower is an individual who reports suspicious activity, such as violations, exploitation, misrepresentations, or other infractions. The activity may be within an organization, either public or private. If you witnessed, or were aware of, corruption and misconduct in your workplace, would you speak up about it, even if it meant potentially losing your job?
I agree, I think Whistleblowers are very important! I think I might consider doing that if I had to. If it's not right, it's not right. Simple as that.

31 – Picnic Month: July is national Picnic Month. Have you ever been on a picnic? Do you enjoy eating outdoors? If you were organizing a picnic, what foods would you bring?
Yes! I have been on a few! I'm looking forward to going again in the future. In the past that I can remember having sandwiches and light snack food. They have never been fancy ones, but they are special in there own way!

1 – June is Audiobook Month: Do you use audiobooks? If yes, do you use them exclusively, or do you also read ebooks or physical books? If you don't use audiobooks, why not?
No, I do not use Audiobooks. Because I like reading from regular books! :-p

2 – Donut Day: Do you like donuts? Have you ever made your own? If/when you buy donuts, what it your go-to place -- is it a major chain (Dunkin' Donuts, Tim Hortons, Krispy Kreme, etc.), or do you have a favourite independent bakery?
Correction: I love donuts. No, I haven't made my own. But that sounds like heaven... I don't have a favorite off the top of my head, there are a-lot of places I've been to with good donuts.

3 – World Bicycle Day: Do you regularly ride a bike? If yes, is it mostly for fun, or do is it your main mode of tranportation? Does your town/city have good bike infrasctructure, e.g. dedicated, safe bike paths, etc.?
I do have a bicycle. I ride it mostly for fun. My village where I live could use much better sidewalks for bicycles!

4 – Cheese Day: There are people who do not like cheese or cannot eat it for health reasons, while other people think it is one of the best foods, or ingredients for food recipes that was ever invented! Which category best describes you?
I love cheese. <3

5 – Thank God it's Monday Day: everyone is probably familiar with TGIF - Thank god it's Friday. Did you know there's actually a TGIM Day? Thank God It’s Monday Day is all about seeing Monday as a positive day, rather than a negative day. What sort of positive things could you do to make sure your week gets off to a good start?
I'm off every other Monday - so I like those days a-lot. At the start of the workweek I like to try to get ahead with my comic and other hobbies.

6 – Drive-In Movie Day: Drive-in movies have seen a bit of a renaissance recently -- largely thanks to the Covid pandemic. Have you ever been to a drive-in movie, or any other type of open air movie viewing event?
Yes, I've gone to the drive in several times.. I love it.

7 – Global Running Day: Are you, or have you ever been, a runner/jogger? If yes, do you/did you run mostly indoors (treadmill) or outdoors, or both, depending on the weather? What are the biggest differences between running outdoors vs indoors? If you're not a runner, what is your preferred form of exercise (if you have one)?
Yes, I used to be a runner when I was in my early/mid 20's. It was good till it started hurting my knees. I prefer to run outside! Now I like to do yoga.

8 – Best Friends Day: Do you have a best friend(s)? Are they someone you've know since forever, or someone you met as an adult? Did you meet online first and if yes, have you since met in person?
I think my best friend is Mike. I have several friends I am very close with. But with Mike we talk many times throughout the day. We've known each other for gosh... I think 15 years now? We met online and then in person.

9 – Movie Night: The second Friday in June is national movie night. If you are/were going to watch a movie tonight to celebrate national movie night, what movie would you watch? Would you watch it at home, or at the cinema?
I personally like watching movies at home. And I'm not sure what movie it would be. To tell the truth I'm not a huge movie person.

10 – Worldwide Knit in Public Day: It's time to take knitting out of the shadows and show everyone that knitting is for all ages and that it’s a fun and enjoyable activity, and something that you can proud of. Do you knit? Do you knit in public? Do you ever get questions or comments from strangers when you do knit in public?
No, I do not know how. But if I did I think I would give this a try.

11 – Corn on the Cob Day: Do you like corn on the cob? How do you usually cook it -- just boiled, on the BBQ, etc.? What's your favourite seasoning?
Oh I love corn on the cob! I like just regular old butter, salt and pepper. Delicious!

12 – Red Rose Day: Are roses -- red or otherwise -highly overrated?
I don't think so. They are beautiful in their own way - just like all plants!

13 – Kitchen Klutzes Day: Even if you're not a klutz in the kitchen, we've all had a significant kitchen mishap at some point. What was the klutziest thing to ever happen to you in the kitchen?
I'm sure I've had some bad mistakes but none are coming to mind. I'm a klutz in general.

14 – International Bath Day: Do you take baths regularly, or are you strictly a shower aficionado?
I like both - they are both enjoyable to me!

15 – Nature Photography Day: Have you ever enjoyed a photo of a flower? Or a close up of a bee landing on the entrance to its hive? Have you taken any photos of nature that you're particularly proud of? Care to share it with us?
Yes, when I was younger in my 20's I was huge into outdoor photography. If anyone would like to see I'd be happy to share. :)

16 – Take Back the Lunch Break Day: When you're at work (or when you worked or were still going into the office), did you fall into the habit of eating at your desk and continuing to work while eating? Did your working conditions include a proper lunch break? If you're mostly working from home, do you still eat at your desk and continue working during your lunch?
Currently I take my break and eat then. But I've had jobs where I have had to work during my lunch break time and even had a job where I had to take a working lunch and that was terrible.

17 – Eat Your Vegetables Day: Do you love veggies? Do you have favourites? Do you have a favourite veggie recipe -- either main meal or side dish? Will you share it?
Yes, I love veggies. I think two of my favorites are green beans and potatoes. But there are a few others I like. I've been eating more of them lately.

18 – International Panic Day: Contrary to what it sounds like, this is a day dedicated to reducing panic and stress in your daily life, not celebrating it! How to you go about reducing the stresses, anxiety and yes, panic, in your life?
Go for a walk, take a nap (this one can be difficult depending on how stressed I am), listen to music, read a book..... those are the main ways I try to calm myself down.

19 – Watch Day: Do you still wear a watch (assuming you ever did wear one)? Is it just a regular time telling watch, or is a smartwatch or fitness/health device that also tells you the time?
I wear my fit bit. Which I mostly use as a watch. But it is also helpful for other things it can do!

20 – World Productivity Day: What did you do today (or are you planning to do) that was particularly productive?
Taking the time to read up on here and write new posts. It's a good feeling and makes me feel productive since my goal is to post at least once a week.

21 – World Music Day: How important is music in your life? Do you play any musical instruments, or are you part of a choir or other vocal group? Have you ever been in a band (rock or school or other)?
I love music so much. I have a few instruments but I don't play them much. A small keyboard, a harmonica and an electric violin.

22 – Onion Ring Day: Onion rings or fries?
Onion rings!

23 – Typewriter Day: Are you old enough that you remember using typewriters in school/university/for work? Is there anything about typewriters that you kind of miss?
No, but I give a good respect to those who use typewriters!

24 – World UFO Day: UFO simply means Unidentified Flying Object – not necessarily that it's an alien spaceship. Have you ever seen anything in the sky that you honestly couldn't figure out what it was? Even if you're pretty sure what you saw wasn't an alien space craft, do you think it's possible that earth is being visited by aliens?
No, not that I know of. But I do believe that there is some truth behind them and some wonders we may never understand. I think there is a chance aliens are real. But I don't give it much thought.

25 – Global Beatles Day: The Beatles still stand as one of the most influential bands of all time, famous all over the world to this very day. Do you have a favourite Beatles song and/or album? If you're one of those "I don't like the Beatles" people, why?
I do like them! My favorite song is "Octopus Garden". There are other ones I like too.

26 – Coconut Day: Some people love coconut in things, some people really don't. Where do you fall? Do you use coconut mostly in baking, or do you cook with coconut milk? Or is coconut in any form just not a thing in your house?
I like the sent of it. I have a few shampoo and body wash products with coconut sent in them and they are lovely.

27 – Onion Day: True or false: onions improve the taste of pretty much every savoury dish they're in, even if the original recipe doesn't specifically include them. Are onions a staple in your kitchen? Do you have any tricks to avoid tears while chopping?
I'm not sure they improve everything they are put in. But they are very tasty! I should use them more when cooking!

28 – International Body Piercing Day: Do you have any piercings? That aren't your ears?
Nope, just my ears are pierced.

29 – Camera Day: Do you still own and use an actual camera? If you've mostly or completely transitioned from using a real camera to just using a phone camera, do you find you take more photos now than you did before?
I feel like I take more photos now - which makes me sort of sad and I've been trying to do that less and live more in the moment. Sometimes I miss using my digital camera.

30 – Social Media Day: In its short life, social media has redefined how people interact, communicate, and share with family, friends, and the world – in both good ways and bad. What social media do you use? Do you occasionally take breaks from social media? Do you have any ideas on what might improve the social media experience for most?
I mainly use Facebook and now Blue sky. Also I use Instagram at times. I try to take breaks from it.

These questions were suggested by quiregrrl.

1. What did you want to be when you grew up?
I had a mix of jobs I was interested in when I was a kid. I think the two popular ones in my head were to become a Veterinary and the other to become an art teacher.

2. Did you follow through? If not, what happened?
Nope, not in the slightest. I lost interest mostly is what it came down to.

3. Is your life turning out the way you thought it would when you were a kid? If not, is it better or worse?
I didn't think too much of what my adult years would be like as a kid. Or at least I don't remember thinking of it much. So I'm not totally sure how to answer that...

4. Paradoxes aside, if you could time-travel back to when you were 10 years old, what would you tell your 10-year-old self?
To stay away from men who take advantage of you. Don't do stuff you aren't okay with to make them happy or for them to feel good. And to not believe them. To believe in yourself more. I know 10 years old is a bit dramatic for all of this talk, but really that advice would have helped me so much just seven/eight years later.

5. Do you think the child you were, would like the adult you've become?
I think so? Overall maybe? I think I live a pretty comfortable life. Sometimes I deal with loneliness and anxiety and depression, but overall I am okay.

I almost forgot about answering these! But here we go again. I think I will do the whole month of May since I went a month without doing any.

1 – School Bus Drivers' Day: When you were young, did you have to take a school bus to get to school?
Yes. Sometimes we walked to school when the weather was nice since we lived close by.

2 – Bike Month: Do you cycle? If yes, do you do it mostly for fun/occasional outings, or is it your main mode of transportation? Does your municipality have good cycling infrastructure? Do you cycle year-round, even in winter (and in the snow if you get snow where you live)?
Yes, I have two. One is a mountain bike (I got it for free from my ex's cousin) and the other is more of a basic cycle... I'm not sure if it should have a specific name or not. I just cycle when the weather is nice and I make the time. I should do it more often.

3 – Write a Review Day: Do you write reviews for products or services (e.g. reviews on Amazon, or on a restaurant's or shop's website)? Do you do this regularly, or only if you're particularly happy or dissatisfied with the product or service? Whether or not you write reviews, do you read reviews left by others to help your decision-making process? Do you find negative reviews more helpful than positive ones?
I write short & positive reviews for the comics I read on Comic Fury. I really don't like saying bad things about anything if I can help it. So I try to stick to the positive. Also on storygraph and goodreads I write some reviews for the books I really liked.

4 – Petite and Proud Day: Petite is used to describe a person about or under 162 cm / 5'4". Are you petite? Do you think petite women maybe have an easier time of it than short men? Would you (or have you) dated someone shorter than you?
I am 4'9 - 4'10, so yes I am petite. I would date someone shorter than me. As long as we vibe!

5 – Space Day: Ever wondered what lies beyond our skies? Do you think we'll ever have permanent human settlements on the moon, or on Mars?
I don't think about space or living on another planet too much. Other than watching the stars from time to time.

6 – International No Diet Day: We usually associate a diet with an attempt to lose weight, but many have to follow special diets for other health reasons. Do you, or have you ever, followed a specific diet? Has it, or did it achieve what it was meant to do?
Yes, I have acid reflux so I have to avoid spicy and acidic foods. One thing that really messes with me is tomato soup!

7 – World Laughter Day: is there anything, or anyone, that is almost guaranteed to make you laugh? How would you describe your sense of humour?
I think I have a decent sense of humor. It's better in real life I think.

8 – Etiquette Week: the first Monday of the second full week in May marks the beginning of national etiquette week. Are there any social conventions you wish would go away, or that you wish would come back (or be observed by more people)?
I can't think of any off the top of my head.

9 – Sleepover Day: Did you do sleepovers when you were young?
Yes, I've had them from time to time.

10 – Stay Up All Night Night: When was the last time you stayed up all (or most of) the night on purpose (e.g. not because you were tending to an ill child or suffering from insomnia)?
Gosh, I can't recall... I love sleeping and I sleep best at night. Maybe new years last year... but I still had to go to bed at a decent hour because I worked the next day!

11 – World Ego Awareness Day: Do you know anyone with an incredibly inflated ego? When was the last time someone's ego came into conflict with your own?
Hummm... Maybe some of my family members. Or some friends.

12 – Limerick Day: Do you like limericks? Do you have a favourite?
I actually had to look up this word because I never heard of it before. I'm not sure I have heard any, but if I had maybe I did once enjoy them?

13 – World Fair Trade Day: Do you try to buy certified fair trade products?
Yes! My mom and I sometimes go to an international one from time to time when they come to our area. Also in the store when I see some products I will buy them.

14 – World Migratory Bird Day: World Migratory Bird Day is observed twice a year during the second Saturday in May and again on the second Saturday in October. The goal is to raise awareness of issues affecting migratory birds and to inspire action around the world to take measures for their conservation. Do you live in a region that sees bird migrations in the spring and fall? Light pollution is a major threat to migratory birds. Does your municipality have any "Dim the Lights" policies in place to protect migratory birds?
Yes, I feel I see certain migrations. For example - Hummingbirds. I live in a place with little to none when it comes to light pollution luckily.

15 – Bring Flowers to Someone Day: When was the last time someone gave you flowers? When was the last time you brought flowers to someone else?
Mike was the last time we have given each other flowers. :)

16 – Biographers' Day: Do you like reading biographies? What have been some of your favourites? If you're not a fan, why not? If you were going to write a biography of someone, who would that be?
Yes, I have read some good Biographies. They can be enjoyable - like all kinds of books.

17 – World Baking Day: Do you bake or are you more of a fan of watching others baking, for example, watching the Great British Bake Off or other shows of that type? If you do bake, what are some of your favourite things to bake?
I like to bake sometimes. Usually brownies, cupcakes and cookies are what I enjoy the most.

18 – International Museum Day: When was the last time you visited a museum? Which one was it, and what was your favourite exhibit?
This past summer with my boyfriend and his father and stepmother. We went to a firemen's museum. It took us by surprise - just along the street we were walking on and we got to go in for free. I enjoyed it there.

19 – World Meditation Day: Do you meditate? If yes, describe your usual practice. If not, is meditation something you'd consider trying?
I have in the past. But sometimes it can be difficult for me to turn off my inner thoughts. I should try it again.

20 – Weights And Measures Day: Imperial or Metric or a combo of the two depending on what you're weighing/measuring?
Imperial, but I would like to learn metric more someday.

21 – International Tea Day: Do you like tea (proper tea, not those herbal infusions [tisanes])? What is your favourite type of tea and how to you take it (black, or with milk and/or sugar/honey, etc.)? Do you use an actual teapot to make your tea, or are you a "tea bag in a cup" person?
Yes, I love tea. It's one of my favorite things to drink. Peppermint is my favorite flavor. I use both loose leaf and bagged tea.

22 – Solitaire Day: Remember when solitaire was a default thing on Windows PCs (along with Minesweeper)? Do you play solitaire, either with real playing cards or on your computer/phone?
I used to play on my computer way back in the day. In real life I'm not much of a card player. I also liked playing minesweeper.

23 – Title Track Day: Title tracks, or the songs after which an album is named, are often the greatest singles/best tracks on the album. Do you have a favourite title track? Or can you name a title track that is definitely NOT the best track on the album? Is the concept of a title track a thing of the past given how most people listen to music now?
Off hand I can't think of any. I've found that sometimes some of the best songs are the ones played the least. So title tracks don't mean much to me. I think it is a thing of the past, but I could be wrong!

24 – Brother's Day: Do you have a brother? If you don't, or if you don't get along with your actual brother(s), do you have someone else in your life who is like a brother to you?
Yes, I have 6 older brothers and one step brother. I get along with them overall. One of my best friends is like a brother to me.

25 – Towel Day: According to The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, “A towel is about the most massively useful thing an interstellar hitchhiker can have.” Do you agree with this statement? Are towels equally useful to those of us not engaging in interstellar travels?
I think it's pretty important.

26 – Paper Airplane Day: Can you make a paper airplane? Can you make one that actually flies more than a foot or two before crashing?
Not a very good paper airplane! Mine usually fail!

27 – Sunscreen Day: Do you use sunscreen regularly? Do you use it on its own, or do you buy other skin care products that include a sunscreen?
Yes, I try to when I remember! I burn pretty easily.

28 – Hamburger Day: Let’s face it, there isn't anything in the world quite so delightful as your first bite of a rich, juicy hamburger. Do you love hamburgers (or veggie burgers)? What are your favourite toppings to put on your burger?
I like both! OH, I usually put everything on my burgers. Cheese, onions, lettuce, sometimes pickles... condiments. Load it up, baby!

29 – Paperclip Day: Paperclips are not just for holding papers together. There are many other things that you can do with them! What are some of the uses you've found for paperclips beyond holding papers together? Do you think Microsoft's Windows 97 personal assistant "Clippy" did irreparable harm to the reputation of paperclips worldwide?
I'm pretty basic and just mostly use them to hold paper together. But I do know many people who use them for many other things. And I don't knock that. No, honestly I liked Clippy. He was a friendly face while I took my online computer classes and usually hatted those days.

30 – Loomis Day: Mahlon Loomis, a humble dentist, revolutionized the world when he created the “wireless telegram” in 1886. How different would your life be without wi-fi, TV, or radio?
It would be very different! I myself am grateful for Mahlon Loomis!

31 – Web Designer Day: We all visit various websites every single day of the year. What are "features" on some websites that really annoy you? What features do you appreciate the most on well-designed websites?
Humm.... maybe some pop up adds... Like when I use this app to identity my stamps these annoying videos and adds come on. And to click on them to go away can be quite annoying.

I just focus on flowers around my house and yard. Maybe someday I will try to grow vegetables.

17 – International Bat Appreciation Day: Have you ever seen a bat in the flesh? Real bat or Batman, which is better?
Yes, I have seen them both outdoors and indoors! Outdoors is always better since they are happier in their natural habitat.

18 – Pinata Day: Has whacking a paper mache model for reward featured much in your life?
I think I may have had one at one of my birthday parties as a child.... But I could be mistaken.

22 – Earth Day: this is the 53rd Earth Day. What one thing do you think every citizen of Earth should pledge to do to save our planet?
Oh gosh... whatever you can do! If it is recycling - do that! If it is using less plastic products - do that! If it is going down to a local beach or park and cleaning up - do that! We each have our own superpower.

23 – World Book Night: World Book Night aims to change the way adults view reading by encouraging them to take the time to read during the night, when they have more time. Do you do most of your reading during the day or at night? Do you wish you had more time to read during the day? What are the main pros and cons of doing most of your reading at night?
I read any time I can. Sometimes at my first break at work! Sometimes while I am waiting for a meal to cook! Sometimes before I go to bed! Anytime is a good time to read ~

24 – Firefly Day: Not the insect but the short lived TV programme! Were you a fan of Firefly or did it pass you by? If you have no interest in it have you ever seen a real Firefly?
Yes! I loved that show! And I love actual fireflies. I see them here where I live a-lot on summer nights.

I wasn't born yet - but I was born in 1987 - the year after! Last night I was watching a video about it on Youtube and there are a good number of animals making the site their home now which is interesting to me. A long time ago there was a deformed pig born sadly and it's in a museum.

27 – Morse Code Day: spell out your username in morse code
.--- . ... ... .. .

Yes, my boyfriend and I were in a restaurant a few years ago and the person in front of us in line to pay paid for our meal.

29 – International Astronomy Day: Have you ever looked through a telescope or gone to a planetarium? Do you have a favourite celestial body?
I have, but I don't think it was anything of good quality. I usually can see the litter dipper best of all when I am looking for them... so I guess that's my favorite!

30 – International Jazz Day: Jazz, love it or hate it?
I love it! :-)
a_natural_beauty: (Default)
If any of you are curious to answer these questions you can find them here: https://jo.dreamwidth.org/2802730.html#cutid1

I'm behind a year and several months... but that's okay!

April
1 – International Firewalk Day: Have you ever done this strange practice? Would you like to try it?
I don't know what it completely is, but the older I get the less I enjoy fireworks.. so probably not.

2 – Peanut Butter & Jelly (Jam) day: do you like this typical American sandwich? What flavour jelly (jam) do you favour?
No, I like both of those separate. My favorite jelly most likely is blackberry.

3 – Fish Fingers and Custard Day: to celebrate Doctor Who’s strange culinary experiment this day was declared fish fingers and custard day. Would you ever try this? What odd combinations of food do you like?
I might try it! I don't eat my cereal with milk, some find that odd.

4 – International Carrot Day: In your opinion, what's the best way to cook and eat carrots?
I like both cooked and raw carrots.

5 – First Contact Day: As all Trekkies know, 5th April 2063 is the date that Zephram Cochrane (and Earth) first made contact with extraterrestrials (the Vulcans). Do you think we will ever make first contact with extra-terrestrial beings? If we do, do you think the knowledge that we aren't alone in the galaxy/universe would unite Terrans, or cause further divisions?
Honestly I don't think about this subject much. But I don't see why not? Especially as we keep getting further into space and learning more of other planets.

6 – Plan your epitaph day: what message would you like your headstone to send out to the future?
This requires more thought than I can give this question right now...

7 – World Health Day: Founded in 1950 by the World Health Organisation. What could you start to do today that will have a positive effect on your health?
Lately I've been trying to drink water with every meal and give up pop. I try to just have it now rarely. Also I've been trying to not eat food or drink with high fructose corn syrup in it!

8 – Zoo Lovers Day: Do you think zoos do an important job in teaching and conservation or do you think it is time to stop keeping animals in captivity?
I like zoos overall. As long as they take care of their animals property. I feel the animals in zoos may be safer in there than in the wild these days.

9 – Name Yourself Day: Maybe you always felt like your name didn’t reflect who you are, or maybe you just want to try something new. If you could re-invent yourself for one day by choosing a new name, what name would you choose?
Maybe something less common. I feel this question needs more thought to it and I'm not sure I can right now.

10 – International Safety Pin Day: Invented in 1849, where would we be without them? Or do you think there is less of a place for them in modern life than there was in the past?
I still feel the need that safety pins are important!

11 – Eight Track Tape Day: Eight Track Tape Day recognizes an era that was here and gone in a short 20 years. Are you old enough to remember eight tracks? Some technologies, like the Betamax, never caught on even though they were the superior product. Can that be said of eight tracks?
I haven't owned or played them personally. But I get the references.

12 – World Hamster Day: Did you know there are 24 different species of hamsters? Have you ever had a hamster as a pet?
I don't know the number was so high - but I knew there was a-lot! Yes, we had one named Hampton. He was a very sweet little guy.

13 – Scrabble Day: when was the last time you played scrabble? Was it on a board or an online version?
On a board... and gosh, it's been a few years!

14 – Look Up At The Sky Day: go and have a look out the window at the sky and tell us what you see (if anything!)
Yes, I usually always see at least a few stars where I live. I love living somewhere with no light pollution.

15 – World Art Day: what is your favourite piece of art? Have you ever seen it or only admired it in pictures?
I don't think I have a favorite. There are many pieces I love, so it's hard to narrow it down to just one.
a_natural_beauty: (Default)
More of those questions if you feel like reading through them or answering them yourselves here is the link:
https://jo.dreamwidth.org/2802730.html#cutid1
I'm finishing up the month of March now. I'm behind in a year and several months :-p

17 – Saint Patrick’s Day: is this something you celebrate or is it just another day for you?
Even through I do have Irish in me, I don't celebrate it.

18 – Quilting Day: The oldest known quilting dates from 3400 BC! Has anyone ever made you a quilt or have you made your own? Have you ever bought a hand-made quilt?
Actually my grandmother on my mom's side was a experienced quilter. She has made a few that my mom still has that have held up well all these years later.

19 – International Read To Me Day: created to boost literacy this day isn’t just for children. When was the last time you read out loud to someone? What was it you read? Did someone read aloud to you when you were a child? Some couples read to each other – if you have a significant other, is this something you do?
I'm honestly not sure when the last time was that I read something out loud to someone.... Yes, my parents read stories to us out loud. I don't do this with my partner, but I think it's sweet that others do that.

20 – International Day of Happiness: this was created by the United Nations to spread the idea that happitalism rather than capitalism should be spread around the world. Is happiness a choice? What makes you happy? What little thing can you do to make someone else happy? Did anything occur this month that made you particularly happy?
I don't think it is a choice, happiness I mean... I think because now we've come to learn and understand more about mental health issues we know that sometimes one may need medication, therapy, ect. to help them with their happiness and being well mentally, physically and emotionally.
I try to make those around me as happy as I can by doing little acts of kindness. Even little acts to strangers is a way to help spread happiness. Just the other evening I was able to get help through an administer of a site to share my comic on that I've been having trouble with and they were able to help me figure out. That made me happy and it also made me happy that my friend could read the next two chapters on that site that I was able to upload. :-)

21 – International Fragrance Day: Many public spaces, at least in North America, have scent-free policies in place due to the number of people who are negatively affected by perfumes and other scented products. Are you negatively affected by other people's colognes/body sprays/after-shave, etc.? Do you use scented products yourself?
I just use body spray. I'm not too crazy about using it honestly. Especially not the super strong ones!

22 – World Water Day: 783 million people across the world don’t have access to clean water. What water related activity could you do to celebrate this day? Pledge to conserve water? Go swimming? Donate to a water charity?
I try to conserve water as much as I can. I should look into water charities.

23 – Peanut Month: do you like peanuts? Peanut butter?
I'm not a big fan of peanuts, but I do enjoy peanut butter from time to time.

24 – International Waffle Day: How do you like your waffles? Will you be celebrating today by eating any?
I won't be having any today, but I do like them pretty simple. Syrup and sometimes if given the chance fruit is good on top, sometimes whip cream!

25 – Good Hair Day: apparently GHD straighteners were invented in Yorkshire in 2001 and the GHD stands for Good Hair Day - who knew? Describe your hair. What was your hair like as a child? When do you think your hair was at its best?
My hair is straight, thin... It's a dirty blonde color. In the fall and winter it gets darker - almost like a brunette color. In the summer months it's more blonde. When I was a child it was mostly long, but sometimes short. I usually had bangs. I like to think it was at it's best in my 20's.

26 – Spanish Paella Day: yum or yuck?
I've never had it, so I'm not sure if I'd like it or not yet.

27– World Theatre Day: what was the last thing you saw performed in a theatre?
The second beetlejuice movie. It was alright.

28 – Salt Awareness Week (UK): The recommended intake for salt is 6g per day, pick a meal today and share how much salt there is in it.
Since today is just starting I'm not sure what meal it would be... I did have a piece of banana bread my mom made but I'm not sure how much salt is in it...

29 – World Piano Day: have you ever taken piano lessons? What is your favourite piece of piano music or song?
No, I haven't. But some of my favorite music - classical music - has some beautiful piano pieces in it.

30 – Virtual Vacation Day: if you could go away right now where would you go?
Oh my gosh, so many places. To be honest? Anywhere (Within reason of course!) Maybe somewhere cold with a touch of rain - here where I am we've been in a dry spell the last week or two.

31 – Crayon Day: have you any fond memories of using crayons? What were your favourite colours?
Yes - I still use them very rarely with some art projects I do from time to time. My favorite colors are yellow and pink.

Questions - now we are in March. It's been slow getting through all of these and I'm already late to the party but I plan on keeping up with this till the end. If any of you would like to answer any of these, here is the link: https://jo.dreamwidth.org/2802730.html#cutid1

March
1 – World Compliment day: Do you think there is still a place in the modern world for unsolicited compliments?
Yes, I try to give them out as I see them. One kind sentence can change someone's whole day.

2 – World Book Day: What are you reading at the moment or what have you just finished reading?
Currently I am reading "22 britannia road by Amanda Hodgkinson" and "The lion boy and other medical curiosities by Jan Bonderson"
I just finished "The testaments by Margaret Atwood" and "volume three of Lore Olympus by Rachel Smythe".

3 – What if cats and dogs had opposable thumbs day? This is a fun one, what do you think our furry companions would be doing if they could open the cans themselves?
All of the mischief!!

4 – International scrapbook industry day: Have you ever made a scrapbook? If you were to start a scrapbook today what would you put in it?
No, but I give great credit to those who can do this! I used to try my hand at making a sort of collages when I was in my early 20's from cutting up pictures from magazines. If I started one today I would probably have it relate to art, animals or the earth/nature in someway.

5 – Fun facts about Names Day: Does your name have a meaning? Were you named after somebody? How old do you think your name is? This could be your first name or surname.
My birth name is Jessica, it means “to behold,” “God beholds,” or “to see before.” I was named after Jessica the little girl who fell in a well during the 1980's just a few months before I was born.

6 – Start of the British Pie Week! What is your favourite savoury pie? How about your favourite sweet pie? Is a pasty lid on top of a casserole really a pie? It depends on who makes it.
My all time favorite pie is pumpkin pie that my mom makes. But I also love apple pie and I have a soft spot for blueberry pie. I think those are both considered sweet...?

7 – Cereal Day: What cereals do you like? If you had cereal for breakfast this morning what was it? What was your favourite as a child?
My favorite that I have been eating for years now is honey nut cheerios. But I do have a weakness to the sugary ones like frosted flakes, fruit loops, fruity pebbles, ect. As a child I can't remember having one favorite, I just ate all of the unhealthy ones it seems.

8 – International Women’s Day (March is also Women’s History Month): This was first celebrated in 1909, have you ever celebrated it? How do you think women should be honoured on this day?
Yes, I do. And I celebrate in ways I can. I have not been to a march yet, but maybe in the future I will attend one.

9 – Professional Pet Sitters Week: Have you ever engaged the services of a professional pet sitter, or do you usually rely on family or friends to take care of your pets when you're away? Have you ever done any pet sitting for anyone? Would pet sit for any type of pet, or would you limit your services to one specific type of animal (e.g. only cats, or only dogs, etc.)?
Yes, I have watched some people's pets while they have needed me to. My parents have been able to keep an eye on my pets while I am away luckily.

10 – Middle Name Pride Day: not everyone has one, do you? Is there a story behind your middle name or why you don’t have one?
Yes, my middle name is Christine. I'm named after my cousin who goes by Chrissy.

11 – World Plumbing Day: We take indoor plumbing for granted – until there's a problem with it. Have you ever suffered a major plumbing emergency? Have you ever tried to fix a plumbing issue on your own? Did you succeed?
Not personally in my house have I had a problem that I couldn't handle myself or have someone else help with. But sometimes in the past at work there have been issues that I have had to help with and they are unpleasant.

12 – Craft Month: Do you enjoy being creative? What crafts do you participate in? What crafts would you like to try out?
I feel I used to be more creative. But hopefully in the future I can get that spark back. I want to get back into painting and hopefully sewing. Sewing and embroidery is sort of a therapy I feel.

13 – Good Samaritan Day: Have you ever been a good Samaritan for a stranger? Has anyone ever been one for you? Do you think people are less likely to help out these days than in the past?
I'm sure I have been a good Samaritan, but I cannot recall when. I feel like it comes and goes, like most things in life. People do seem to be more engulfed in their phones these days and they also seem to be in more of a hurry.

14 – Crowdfunding Day: Did you know it dates back to the 19th century although the modern resurgence dates from the mid 1990s? Have you ever donated to a crowdfund? Have you ever asked people to donate to you?
No, I did not know that. I have not donated to it. And I have never asked anyone to donate to me or my comic.

15 – Brutus Day: Et tu, Brutus? Have you ever (figuratively) stabbed someone in the back? Has someone stabbed you in the back (also figuratively, unless someone actually stabbed you in the back)?
I don't think either of these things have happened and I hope they do not happen. *fingers crossed*

16 – Sleep Awareness Week: Poor sleep is heavily linked to weight gain, decrease concentration and productivity, increase the risks of heart diseases and strokes, is connected to depression, and can affect emotional and social interactions. Do you get enough sleep most nights? Do you suffer from any sleep-related problems, e.g. insomnia, sleep apnea, etc.? Do you try to stick to a regular sleep routine (same time to bed and waking up), even on weekends?
Oh my gosh, I have a sleeping too much problem... I sleep so much on a regular basis. I take naps and I feel like when I do sleep it is undisturbed. I like to think i have a regular sleep pattern.

These are the second half of the questions from February. Here is the whole list if any of you want to check them out: https://jo.dreamwidth.org/2802730.html#cutid1

15 – World Hippo Day: How much do you know about hippos? Have you seen one outside a zoo?
I feel I do need to learn a bit more about hippos. I have a character in my comic that is part human-part animal. They are basically furies. I have only seen them in person at zoos.

16 – Innovation Day: Are you the creative sort who can easily come up with new innovations, or are you better at following-up with developing other people's ideas?
I think it depends on the innovation. But overall I feel like I am more of a follower than a leader.

17 – My Way Day: the day where you are encouraged to do whatever you want, however you want. Have you ever treated yourself to a day like this? What did you do?
oh my gosh, I have so many days like that. The perks of living alone, not having kids and not too much of a social life. It depends on how I am feeling that day and what it's like outside, the time of the year, things like that. But most of my days I do whatever I want usually involve a nap! :-p

18 – Battery Day: How many things in your house are unusable without batteries? (If they don't run on mains power.)
My books, stamps, art supplies, puzzles, word searches.... to name a few.

19 – World Whale Day: Have you ever been whale watching? Tell us about it.
No, but I would love to go do that someday. Maybe, here's hoping ~

20 – Love Your Pet Day: Do you have pets? Tell us about them – cats, dogs, other species? How many?
Yes, I have my sweet little betta fish named Sapphire. She's such a good little girl, kind of naughty at times when it comes to feeding she can be a bit of a hurry. She likes to go in her betta log recently and likes to be talked to and I like singing to her, too.

21 – International Mother Language Day: What is your native language? How many languages do you speak fluently or near-fluently? How many languages besides your native language have you studied?
None all that well besides English. I do know a bit of sign language.. And a few words in Spanish.

22 – World Yoga Day: Do you do yoga? How do you benefit from it?
Yes, I try to do it when I can. I should get in the habit more. I feel like it's good to slow down and unwind. Plus it's good for so many things from our mental, emotional and physical health.

23 – Digital Learning Day: What are the benefits of digital learning compared to other methods of learning? What are the disadvantages?
Honestly I don't have much thought on this topic. But as long as the person is learning and enjoying themselves, I don't think it matters how they learn. We all have different ways to absorb information.

24 – International I Hate Coriander Day: Do you love or hate coriander? If you don't like it, what don't you like about it?
I don't think I have ever had it by itself. So I will have to try it and get back to this question someday.

25 – Real Bread Week: Real bread refers to any type of bread that has been made without the use of processing aids or any other additives and includes any type of additive-free bread (e.g. pita, paratha, tortilla, oatcakes, roti, bagels, etc.). Do you, or have you ever, made bread? Do you use a bread maker? If you always buy rather than make bread, do you look for bread that at least claims to be additive-free, made from organic flour, etc.?
I have had homemade bread from my parents. And my Grandpa used to make it quite a bit back when he was alive. :-)

26 – Carpe Diem Day: Are you good at seizing the day? If not, what holds you back?
I try to be! I feel I have more energy and motivation in the morning hours than I do the rest of the day. So earlier on I try to seize it before it gets away from me ~

27 – Pokemon Day: Are you or is anybody in your family a Pokemon fanatic?
I am! And some of my family! And some of my friends! :D

28 – Tooth Fairy Day: Did the tooth fairy visit you whenever one of your baby teeth fell out? If you have children, did/do you have the tooth fairy visit them when they lose teeth? Why or why not?
Yes, I had some dear letters written from the tooth fairy. If I had kids I think I would let the tooth fairy make some visits.

This past weekend in the morning I was feeling a bit nauseous and bloated, but as the day went on both days it seemed to go away. But then Monday I was off and around 8 am I started feeling very nauseous but I kept busy with working on stamps and then I did some weed whacking in my ditch and then talked to my neighbors for a bit. When I came home I tried to eat lunch and took a nap. Before this I blew my nose and it was solid white stuff coming out, which worried me. At 2 pm I woke up and threw up my sandwich along with a-lot of phlegm. And within some time it just got worse, I threw up more of what I ate, along with a mucus pill that I took just that morning - the whole thing. Before long I was feeling so dizzy, hot and cold, shaky and it was hard to think. I knew my parents were busy, so I couldn't ask them for help. But I asked my boyfriend who was working but he would try to get out to me soon if I needed him to. Then I tried my sister and she was able to take me to an urgent care.

We left and when I got there they were convinced it was covid. To the point they were rude and distressful, cutting me off when I would try to explain the phlegm and my history with having bad sinuses. My ability to focus was bad, I couldn't answer their questions right and the nurse was one of the worst people I have ever dealt with in the medical field. period. I tried explaining it could be covid but it could also be something else. Nope. Covid was all I had was their response. They took a covid test, had me lay down and deeply rubbed my stomach a bit too hard and gave me medication for my nausea before they sent me on my way. I was disgusted. And disappointed. Their attitudes towards me were unprofessional. To say the least.

Then I promised my sister to get her some gas since she brought me there so last minute as a way to say thank you. We were out of the car for a few minutes when I started throwing up again. Basically dry heaving. Then I felt like I collapsed in the parking lot. I told her I felt like I was drying. It was hard to do anything at that point. Anna got me into the car and we went to the emergency room.
There they were saints compared to the urgent care down the street. They got me a heated blanket, took all sorts of tests like a chest x-ray, CT scan of my stomach, an EKG, bloodwork, urine and gave me an IV.
Slowly all my tests came back negative (even the covid one! Go figure!) but then we found out with my blood work my white blood cells were fighting something off inside my body. Okay - this makes sense.

Finally my results came back from the last text, my CT scan. The doctor was very confused when she told me I had cellulitis in my bellybutton area. That's where the pain was coming from mainly. We looked over my bellybutton and nothing. Everything looked fine. So this was the begging stages. I never heard of this before but when I looked it up usually it happens on someone's arm or leg. But here it was for me in this weird place. We aren't sure how or why. But I go to see the doctor for a follow-up late this morning.
Luckily Mike was able to pick me up and spend the night and we ended up getting my other medication the next morning. I feel blessed to have those around me in my life that were able to help. During probably the sickest I've ever been.

I still have some stomach pain and I still have a bit of tiredness but I think that is from the medication. And probably because of antibiotics and medication they gave me has a side effect of diarrhea. I haven't had a solid bowel movement since early Monday morning. I'm hoping this goes away since I need to be on the antibiotics for the cellulitis for a total of ten days.
But yeah.. that's how the start of my week has been going... I do plan on writing more and getting caught up with everyone's entries soon. Maybe tonight I will spare an hour or two and do some reading to catch up with you all. This really goes to show that you never know what hand you'll get in life. I'm glad we figured it out and I'm glad it's hopefully over and done with.

More questions from the month of February! I may be late to the party, but I'm still dancing over here! ;-)
If any of you are curious about answering these questions here you go - https://jo.dreamwidth.org/2802730.html#cutid1

1 – Serpent Day: How do you feel about snakes? Would you ever keep a snake as a pet?
I am terrified of snakes and I would not want one as a pet.

2 – Optimist Day: Do you consider yourself to be an optimist or a pessimist?
I feel I am a bit of both. I try to be a pessimist more at times so if something doesn't go my way I'm not too disappointed.

3 – Take a Cruise Day: Have you ever been on a cruise? If not, would you want to? Cruise ships cause major environmental damage: a large cruise ship can have a carbon footprint greater than 12,000 cars, while passengers on an Antarctic cruise can produce as much CO2 emissions on a seven-day voyage as the average European in an entire year. The industry is a major producer of waste, with the total amount of rubbish produced by a large cruise ship exceeding a ton per day. And let us not forget that they are also essentially floating germ/virus labs (even before Covid). So do you still want to take a cruise?
Personally I'm not big on the idea of taking a cruse. Mainly because I feel like a-lot of shady things happen on them, but also the environmental damage that they cause.

4 – Ice cream For Breakfast Day: Have you ever eaten ice cream for breakfast (or for any other meal)?
Yes, I feel like I have had it for a meal at least once or twice... not for breakfast but for lunch or dinner I'm sure I have done this before.

5 – World Nutella Day: Do you like Nutella? How often to you eat Nutella?
This may sound crazy but I don't know if I have ever eaten Nutella....

6 – Chopsticks Day: Can you eat with chopsticks? If yes, how often do you use them?
No, I cannot. But I would be willing to learn someday.

7 – World Ballet Day: Have you ever been to a ballet performance? If not, is this something that might interest you? Have you ever had ballet lessons?
No, I have not. I would be interested to go someday. I have not had ballet lessons. This should surprise no-one. :-p

8 – World Opera Day: Are you an opera buff?
I wouldn't say I am a buff, but I do enjoy listening to them from time to time.

9 – Read in the Bathtub Day: Do you read in the bath? Have you ever been reading in the bath and dropped your book into the water?
I usually just stick to reading magazines in the bathtub at the most. I have known people who have dropped books in their baths and have deeply regretted it, so that makes me hesitant to do so.

10 – Umbrella Day: Umbrella or raincoat? Do you carry an umbrella or raincoat “just in case” if the weather looks doubtful, or do you take your chances? What types of umbrellas do you like? Do you keep umbrellas in different places, e.g. one at work, one in your car (if you have a car), to avoid being caught by unexpected rain?
I do have an umbrella in my car! Because you never know!

11 – Make a Friend Day: How easy is it for you to make friends? Do you have many casual friends, or just one or two close friends?
It isn't easy for me I feel. I do have friends and I feel like I am friendly enough, but to actually make and keep adult friendships is difficult I feel. I feel I have a few close and a few casual in real life. And some casual ones online.

12 – World Marriage Day: In your opinion, is marriage an outdated institution or has it stood the test of time? Should we seek to preserve it, or might there be a better alternative for committed couples?
I feel like marriage can work for those who want to do it. But this also all comes down to the couple and what they want and need for their relationship to work.

13 – Clean Out Your Computer Day: When was the last time you cleaned out your fans and dusted off your motherboard? Have you looked at your graphics card to see if its cooling fan and fins are clean? For that matter, when did you last clean out or even opened the case? Or have you ever cleaned out your computer or had someone clean it out for you?
I have a laptop now, so I don't do that... But I do try to go through files and get rid of what I don't need every so often. When I had an actual computer like that I did clean it out every few months, sometimes sooner.

14 – Organ Donor Day: Are you signed up/registered to be an organ donor? Do you regularly or occasionally donate blood?
Yes, I am an organ donor. The way I see it is when I die I will have no use for those organs, so why not give them to someone who needs them. I used to donate blood - I am O Positive. But I kept getting very weak and sick when I donated so they told me not to for now. Maybe in the future I will try again.
a_natural_beauty: (Default)
21 – International Sweatpants Day: Thanks to Covid, many of us have probably lived in sweatpants for the better part of the last couple of years. If this is true for you, has that experience impacted your choice of "work" clothes? Do you now seek out non-sweatpants trousers that mimic sweatpants, e.g. elasticized/drawstring waistbands, stretchier material, etc.? If Covid didn't really impact your clothing choices, do you wear sweatpants?
During covid I started wearing leggings when going out! For a few years before covid I had some people recommend them and saw them more and more in public but I was hesitant. I'm glad I gave them a chance and I love wearing leggings - also I love my sweatpants, too!

22 – Celebration of Life Day: Every now and then, it’s a good idea to take some time off so you can refocus yourself. It’s about stepping back and looking at your life from a different perspective so that you can appreciate everything that you have. How would you celebrate your life? What can you be proud of having achieved?
One thing I am proud of is that I'm well off right now mentally and physically. I do have my hearing loss disability, but overall I live a pretty independent life.

23 – Handwriting Day: Do you still write by hand? Can you write (and read) cursive? Do you think cursive should be taught in schools?
Yes! So much so! With my comic I write and draw it all by hand. I do know how to write in cursive. Sometimes I do have a hard time reading others cursive handwriting. I think they should at least make it a choice for kids to learn it.

24 – Peanut Butter Day: Do you like peanut butter? What is your favorite way to eat peanut butter?
My favorite is creamy peanut butter. I recently found a new flavor - honey roasted peanut butter by Peter Pan. It's delicious.

25 – A Room of One's Own Day: Did you have a room of your own when you were growing up, or did you have to share with siblings? Do you have a room of your own now? If you do, what do you use it for? Is it a bedroom or something else?
No, from the time of when I was born to when I was a senior in high school I always had to share a room with my sister. Now I do have a room (and house) to myself. Mostly it is just used for sleeping, adult related things, reading & doing word searches in my bed... those sort of things.

26 – Australia Day: If you are not Australian, have you ever been to Australia? How much do you know about Australia? If you went to school somewhere other than Australia, how much were you taught about Australia in school?
No, I haven't been there yet. Honestly I don't know much about it. I do collect some Australian stamps. :-P Our schools taught us little to nothing about it sadly.

27 – Fun at Work Day: Do you think work should be fun? How much fun do you expect to have at work?
Within reason. As long as you aren't making fun of someone. I don't expect much fun, but when fun is to be had I try to partake if I am feeling up for it. Some of the people I work with are sort of gossipy so I try not to engage in that.

28 – Global Community Engagement Day: Do you feel engaged with your community? How important do you think it is to feel that you belong in your community?
Somewhat? I recently got involved with a local "friends of the library" group. I don't feel like I really belong, but I'm an introvert and my social time is limited on the day and how I am feeling.

29 – Curmudgeons' Day: What is a curmudgeon? Do you know any curmudgeons? What do you think of them? Today is also Freethinkers' Day. Do you think a curmudgeon might be just a freethinker?
I haven't thought about this much. I feel we all have our different points of views and life experiences, so in the end that has a-lot to do with who we are and why we are this way.

30 – Bubble Wrap Day: Does bubble wrap deserve its own day? Why or why not?
Another question I haven't thought about much.... but since it already has it's own holiday... I guess I am happy for it? ^^;;

31 – Backward Day: National Backward Day is a fun day that encourages us to do things in an order that we would not usually do them in! Have you ever taken part in a backward day? How did it go?
I never have taken part of it! Maybe someday?
a_natural_beauty: (Default)
More of these questions https://jo.dreamwidth.org/2802730.html#cutid1
It actually feels nice to be thinking of the January theme while answering these since this week it has been and will be for a few more days in the low 90's. I am not a fan of the heat. :-p

11 – Take the Stairs Day. Does your house have stairs? If you have the choice of stairs or an elevator, which do you choose?
I like both, but the stairs seem like the safer and healthier choice!

12 – Marzipan Day: Do you like marzipan? Yes, I think I have had this treat before, but I am not completly certain.

13 – Make Your Dream Come True Day: Have you ever had a dream come true? Care to tell the story? A dream as in what one dreams while they sleeping...? I don't think they mean that... but anyway, I'm not sure. I guess so? I live a somewhat comfortable life. I think when I was younger that probably was a dream of mine but I don't remember.

14 – International Kite Day: Have you ever flown a kite? Have you ever been to a kite festival? Have you ever flown a kite at a kite festival?
Yes! When I was younger this was a fun activity of mine. While I was along lake Erie in Pennsylvania years ago I saw a small kite festival. I didn't fly one there, I just remember trying to get good photos.

15 – World Snow Day: Does it snow where you live? If not, have you ever seen snow? If yes, what do you think of snow?
Yes, luckily. Although we don't have the winters we used to. I love the snow. Except for driving in it, I love being out in the snow.

16 – Nothing Day: Should we observe this day by not asking a question? Is it literally possible to do nothing?
Quite possible! I like days where I can do nothing. I feel like we all need to give our bodies and minds a break.

17 – Ditch New Year's Resolutions Day: Do you make New Year's resolutions? If so, how successful are you at keeping them?
I did this more in the past, but I've found it's hard to keep up with them. So now I just try to make small goals every so often. More realistic.

18 – Thesaurus Day: Do you own a thesaurus? How often do you consult a thesaurus to find just the right word?
Yes, I have one. Mine is quite old and I don't use it often, but I keep it on hand in case I do.

19 – Popcorn Day: Do you like popcorn? What is your favorite topping for popcorn? Or do you prefer it plain?
I do enjoy it from time to time. I like cheddar cheese, white cheddar and caramel. When it comes to warm popcorn I like just the basic with salt and butter.

20 – Take a Walk Outdoors Day: Is being outdoors important to you? How often do you spend time outside/in nature? Do you have easy access to parks or walking trails or other natural areas (e.g. the beach)? Do you feel any benefit if you make the effort to go out into nature? Do you try to get outside regularly? Depending on where you live, January might not be the best month for marking Take a Walk Outdoors Day – do you find it more difficult to venture outdoors in the winter?
It is very important! I love being outdoors. I should be outside more often. I believe it can really do everyone's mind and body good. There is a biking trail near my house I like to walk along. In the winter it can be harder, but as long as you are somewhere safe, paved and it's not icy out - a walk in the winter can be refreshing!

Another friend of mine on here answers these random questions, I saw the idea awhile ago and figured I would give it a try. They are from last year - but to me a question is a question. Here is the link if any of you are curious: https://jo.dreamwidth.org/2802730.html#cutid1
I think I will do 10 each time I decide to work on these. Starting with January 2023! :-p
You guys can answer them if you'd like as well ~

1 – Global Family Day: How do you define family?
To me family is those who you consider close to your heart. I have some friends I consider family and some actual blood relatives I don't consider family. It's who you want near and dear to you.

2 – World Introvert Day: Do you consider yourself an introvert, an extrovert, or something in between?
I consider myself an introvert. Only when I am around those I am close to do I feel I can open up more.

3 – Women Rock! Day: From the Supremes to Janis Joplin to Tori Amos to Billie Eilish, women have made their mark in the world of music. If you were putting together an all-female play list, list five performers who would absolutely have to be on it.
This is a hard question to answer, but I will answer it with females I am most familiar with: Sai, Pink, Lady Gaga, A fine Frenzy (Alison Sudol) and Sara Bareilles.

4 – World Hypnotism Day: Have you ever been hypnotised? If so, how was the experience?
Never I have been hypontised.

5 – Whipped Cream Day: Do you like whipped cream? Have you ever made whipped cream from scratch?
Yes, I usually have it on pie or fruit. No, I have never made it from scratch.

6 – Take Down the Christmas Tree Day: If you celebrate Christmas, when do you put up your tree and when do you take it down?
I usually put it up at the start of December and take it down mid - end of January.

7 – I'm Not Going to Take it Anymore Day: What gets you to the point of saying you're not going to take it anymore?
Narrowminded people. And people I can't talk to on a level where they respect me and my views. So I just don't surround myself with people like that.

8 – Winter Skin Relief Day: What is the best skin moisturizer you've tried? Do you use different moisturizers for your face and body? Other than moisturizers, do you have any other tips for keeping your skin feeling and looking healthy during the winter months?
Oh I use all kinds of skin moisturizers! So to come up with a favorite... That's hard to remember. (It's funny answering these winter themed questions in June :-p)

9 – Coming of Age Day: What does coming of age mean to you? What, if any, coming of age ceremonies or rituals are practiced where you live?
None? That I know of? I'm not one to do any of those anyway....

10 – Shop for Travel Day: First celebrated in 2018, Shop for Travel Day has continued annually on the second Tuesday of the year ever since. The reason for it being situated at this time on the calendar has to do with the fact that, in many cases, the early weeks of January are an especially advantageous time to shop for travel due to many companies offering special deals and discounts. When was the last time you travelled within your own country? How about outside of your own country? If money (and time) were no object, where would you love to travel to?
The last time I traveled was to Coverington Kentucky and Cincinnati, Ohio with my boyfriend this past summer. It was a very nice trip. We stayed in Kentucky and did stuff in both states.
If I could travel anywhere it would be to Europe. If it was safe enough I would maybe try to do a backpacking trip. Maybe spend a few days in different countries over there.
