Zarzaliel's webcomic "NIL Canticum Bellum" is pretty popular, but it's easy to see after reading this ongoing and gorgeous masterpiece of a story. If you are looking for something new to try reading, I recommend diving into this series!

This story takes place far into the future, in 2072. The world is a very different place that it is now. What starts as someone finding a lost dog and needs to return him to the owner turns into an intense and thrilling twist of fate as they join a group of insurgent characters. As a whole, all of the cast of characters, both good and bad - and the grey areas in between are quite interesting. Some are intriguing, some have an air of mystery to them while others give you the feeling you would be comfortable in real life with them. Icon, the dog is likable and intelligent. But even he has some mystery to him.

It can be noticed easily enough from the first page you see, but this comic is drawn with such talent and beauty. My first thoughts were if the creator Zazaliel was a professional. And in my honest opinion they are! The art captures you like nothing else. The colors, the effects, shadows, angles, textures... they are filled with powerful emotion. I was blown away with just the art alone with this one! And that's not even to mention the storytelling and plot that captures you as well. My experience with reading "NIL Canticum Bellum" was that the art transports you into this world. It's an exciting feeling that is truly like no other comic I have read to date. At times it even gives off a trippy vibe which works nicely for what may be going down during that time. The fights are incredible, with special powers, rage and passion. And I must add the backgrounds make you feel as if you have been to such places, I feel this is a strength of Zaraliel's storytelling ability.

I feel like the art also goes into the topic of how the plot and story are presented. How the dialog flows with the pages and from scene to scene - it feels almost like you are watching this directly in front of you and not just from a screen. It all feels so natural as the events in this story unfold.
With all of these reviews I don't like to give out spoilers, so I won't add in too much detail but the story shows us more depth as it goes on. Many subjects are touched on - from worldly issues to personal issues, things get more more serious and dark with each page.
