#41 wasserbienchen's "HAVEN" review!

I personally feel like "HAVEN" is one of the rare underrated comics that I have had the pleasure to read and enjoy. It falls in with the themes of fantasy, romance, action, mystery and drama. There is a mature rating for this, just a heads up.
There was an old version of this series that was last updated in 2022, I haven't read that one. But I do find this interesting. From what I can tell from wasserienchen's author notes with their posts, they have put a-lot of care and work into this fine series. This new version is more polished and they fixed up things they did not find useful or needed from the old one. It's a good amount of work and time put into making this story better with time and I fully respect that.
"HAVEN" starts us out with a simple girl named Astrid who is given a new fate, something she was not expecting nor wanting (At first) but as time goes on, she grows into quite a character with plenty of development. I don't like to give out spoilers with these reviews, so I won't go into much with the other cast of characters, but they are creative and help support and carry the story in a wonderful way. There is some darker moments with some of them, adding to the mystery and depth of the story. Some of them make you question their motivates, which is always exciting! I like how in the start of the story there is a sense of innocence and as things go on, it gets more mature. The character growth and plot goes at a good pace from what I have read so far.
The artwork that wasserienchen has shared with us is breathtaking. From the fine details of the shadows to the way light shines in certain scenes... action scenes that play out with such force, it feels like it will come right out at you! When I was reading and experiencing different scenes like deep within the woods, villages, training grounds, inside different buildings... it was all done beautifully. I felt like the story not only is a powerful one for what it is, but because of how I lost myself to the wonder of the artwork - it completely comes out on a new level.
I greatly enjoyed the character designs as they bring everything to life. You can tell so much just from the designs of the characters from guards to regular people in the village to the higher class. The sense of style is impressive. Their faces are very expressive. I think I enjoy their eyes the best, wasserbienchen can add such emotion to their eyes. Since we are reading about angels (I don't think this is a spoiler!), another favorite part of mine with this comic series are the wings that come with those characters. While they are flying, fighting, resting, standing... they are all beautiful and drawn with grace.
To date there are 8 chapters up on Comic Fury, all are a good length and will keep you entertained. I'm almost caught up on "HAVEN'. So if you haven't experienced this story, I recommend you check it out. It is well worth a look into!
