DNA update and results
Feb. 3rd, 2025 07:49 amSo I logged into my DNA accounts to see if there has been any updates (ancestry.com & 23&me) and found ancestry.com updated July of last year! I haven't been on these in quite sometime and when I seen this new update is got me excited. 23&me hasn't updated since 2021.
Ancestry.com results:
40% England & Northwestern Europe
25% Germanic Europe
15% Central & Eastern Europe
15% Scotland
3% Sweden
1% Norway
1% Ireland
23&me results:
80.8 North western European
38.3 French & German
27.6 British & Irish
7.7 Scandinavian
7.2 Broadly north western European
19.1 Eastern European
0.1 Unassigned
I thought this news from ancestry.com was interesting because last time I checked I didn't have any Scottish in me! It doesn't show from 23&me those results but everything can be different for each company testing your results. I've been thinking about trying a new one but I should do some more research. Later today I'm going over to visit with my parents and take my mom out to lunch and I wonder what they will think about this news. When we first took these tests years ago we found out we had Irish in us! Pretty much everything else from the tests were accurate but we had no idea about any Irish. Both my mom and dad have it, so it was a fun little surprise. And now this news about Scotland is neat. Have any of you tried these DNA tests and if you did -what did you think of your results? I plan on writing more about this subject again soon.
