I go through some days where I feel more anxious than others. Some days I am more hopeful than others.
But one thing I want to STOP is the adds. Before I noticed political adds used to just be on regular TV but now they are on Youtube AND on the radio. This nice quite morning I wanted to get caught up on DW and enjoy my breakfast of sunny side eggs, toast and tea and on the radio there was an add about my state's senator Sherrod Brown. It lasted what felt like minutes and felt like it was never going to end. Saying untrue, rude and distasteful things... almost like a child wrote it. So I unplugged my radio and now I am listening to Pandora.
I'm tired of all the negativity and hate. Why not say something good about the candidate you are supporting? Why not give us new information on why you are supporting them? No... Okay, but don't just say fact less, terrible, angry and just nasty adds OVER and OVER and OVER. It's gotten ridiculous these past few weeks. Within two or three adds I see or hear now one is related to politics here in Ohio. It makes me want to just go pack up and live in the woods for the last of all of this.
Soon all of this will be over. I'm hoping for a good, positive and new outlook and a new candidate. Most of you know who I support, I don't feel the need to say it here. But my ears will be beyond happy when all of these stupid adds are done. Gosh, I HATE it. And that takes a-lot for me to say.
Rant done. Takes some deep breaths.

Even in the UK we're getting a lot of news about the US election and hearing about a lot of the negativity, so I can't imagine how overwhelming it must be there. I hope you can find ways to switch off and take breaks from it!

I am also tired of the political ads. Just over and over. I always hated the politcal window b/c they pay so much to push their ads over everyone else. *UGH*

I'm fortunate in that I rarely see or hear ads as I view ad-free streaming and listen to NPR for the radio and use ad blockers online. However I've been doing rather little of the radio listening because even without ads I am tired of all the campaign coverage.

I did go to YouTube a few days ago to find a song I wanted to look up and fortunately only one of the three clips I opened had ads, but boy that was enough!

What bugs me the most is thinking of the hundreds of millions of dollars spent on this stuff which could go to actually funding government services and helping people instead.

As Matt said, you're not alone, Jess.

Frankly, I believe ALL of America is sick and tired of the tumultuous political climate we've spent the last decade in. The difference is that we have a group of people who, as Kamala Harris has often said, need a perpetual problem to avoid doing the WORK required for SOLVING problems. Trump supporters crave a target -- a person or group of people -- to scapegoat so they can have some kind of legitimacy for attacking that scapegoat and blaming it for their woes instead of looking inside themselves and trying to solve those woes.

When Kamala Harris calls Donald Trump "weak", this is what I think she's getting at. It's always easier to blame someone else for a problem than to put forth a little effort to try to fix whatever it is that's broken -- Trump did this for the past decade, sticking his foot into every Congressional negotiation, like the desperately-needed Bipartisan Border Bill, to maintain unsolved problems affecting Americans so he alone could always have someone to blame, and someone to direct violence and hatred towards. All of this, of course, because Trump is in a blind rage and fixated on this vengeance that he's ranted about since he was "fired" in 2020 by Americans -- Americans infuriated with his lack of empathy while Covid stole over a half-million lives and tanked what WAS a great economy... which, by the way, he inherited from his "incompetent" predecessor Barack Obama.

Yes, there ARE a lot of hate ads, which to me is par for the course and indicative of how hateful and angry the GOP has become after eight years of intoxication by an increasingly volatile and sadistic sociopath with a MASSIVE God-complex. Hatred spreads so easily, which is why it's important that the Harris-Walz campaign wins so we can bring normalcy, positivity, and prosperity back to the Soul of Our Nation. 👍🏾

Being in a swing state sucks. I see that hella transphobic anti-kamala ad at least a couple times an hour. I cannot wait for this shit to end. Also where the fuck did all these campaigners get my cell phone number!?

I pay money to not see the ads.

My browser blocks 99% if ALL ads including YT ones.

I don't watch TV

I don't listen to the Radio

I don't have ads on FB, Instagram, or YT.

It's honestly refreshing.

I also don't watch Amazon Prime enough to have to deal with them.

Also refreshing.

One of the reasons I'm uncomfortable with my Hps is because she listens, watches, reads, and otherwise consumes CNN 24x7 which means she's a ball of anxiety angst on a good day, let alone when she's been on her own for weeks on end.

I pay for spotify and have for several years. I have not heard any ads on my radio since. It was also helpful during covid, because everyone and their mother were all saying go get the shot, and I was like mind your business.

Plus politics and being ground zero for the George Floyd Riots.

Okie dokie! It's good to hear about all the yucky I am missing since I pay attention to this, my stats and my letters and chosen fiction and that is pretty much it! I take comfort in this. ^_^

It's hype, more hype is being infused into everything to gain more attention. That's one reason I worry less. The suspense bores me. ^_^

Or "the squeaky wheel gets the grease" basically the loud one gets attention. Pretty much!
