This morning while I was doing odds and ends around my house while also taking little cat naps (I'm back to being a bit sick again. This time with a sore throat that now is gone but has turned into a head cold) and snacking I thought that it might be nice to write about food for once. And who knows, maybe I will write about it more than once since these things seem to change from time to time. I guess every seven years our taste buds change from what I've heard... I haven't read much into this.

Anyway, as I think I've written about before I have acid reflux. So that has impacted my diet over the years. Not a ton since I normally don't go for spicy or hot food anyway. Even before I was diagnosed. I don't take any medications for it, I just watch what I eat. And I try not to sleep soon after I eat. Also I try not to wear tight pants since I've noticed that makes my acid reflux worse.

One guilty pleasure I have is sweets. It's pretty bad at times. Like a week before I start my period is usually when my cravings come. I will want anything from cookies to brownies to cake to ice cream... and the list goes on. Lately due to stress and boredom I've been eating more sweets than I should be.

I have been trying to eat better when I can. Humus is one of my favorite choices for lunch while at work. I'll keep a pack of it - I like the original flavor but I do want to try new flavors someday - at work and bring in crackers to spread it on. And I've been trying to bring in and eat more fruits and vegetables, too.
Some of my favorite fruits are apples, bananas, all sorts of berries like strawberries, blackberries, raspberries and recently I learned I love kiwi. Some of my favorite veggies are green beans, peas, carrots, cucumbers and onions. Another healthy food I've been trying to add to my diet is spinach, I've found I like it more than lettuce.

I do like trying different kinds of foods occasionally but I am also a creature of habit. Even just a basic dish of meat and potatoes can please me. Some other random food facts about me I guess I'll throw in the pot: I love mushrooms and cheese. Together or separate! Depending on what kinds of course. I don't drink coffee but I enjoy a good cup of tea from time to time! I mostly like to drink water. I'll have a-little milk each morning or sometimes orange juice. And sometimes I do have pop, but I'm really trying to cut that out of my diet.

For now I think that is a good start. Maybe I'll write more on this topic again soon. Maybe I'll write about restaurants or some dishes... Just something different to think about and express. The older I get the more health conscious I have been becoming. Let me know your thoughts on food, I'm curious to hear them!

Tomorrow as some of you may know here in the states will be an economic blackout - the first of a few coming up this year! If some of you don't know, the idea is to not spend money anywhere. So it's ideal to stock up before or after this date. There are a few others throughout the next few months. I will try to list them prior to when they happen. They include boycotting business like amazon, walmart, nestle and general mills.

I will be a part of this. I have gas in my car and food at home. All of these boycotts I will make sure I can help with. It may not seem like much for one person to do it. But if enough of us do our part who knows what will happen...
