An unexpected but pleasant surprise
Aug. 30th, 2023 06:55 pmToday at work as I was going through and doing the last of my work for the day I somehow started a conversation with a coworker I wasn't ready for or expected in the least. She's been a family friend, knowing more of my siblings from my mom and dad's first marriage. They are older than me. And we got to talking about my siblings, to which she told me she was good friends with my half brother Donnie. Her, her husband (boyfriend at the time I assume?) and a few others spent a good amount of time together.
This is important to me since I know very little about my siblings who have passed away. I have lost two before I was born and two when I was younger. Donnie was one who was always sort of a mystery to me. So as she was talking about him, my heart felt excited. She told me that one of the last funny memories of him was at a Halloween party they all went to. Donnie dressed up as a girl, wearing a rather short skirt and showing off a bit much. This made me laugh and happy since I never heard much of him, let alone a funny memory. In my mind I gave them all personalities of their own to sometimes help when I miss them.
She went on to say that she has some photos of him and their friends together but they are at her ex-husbands house. Sometime in the near future she will bring them in and show me. I actually don't know if I have seen many photos of him as an adult. He passed away when he was young (she said 19, but I think a-little older than that). I'm hoping I can see these photos someday. She mentioned how friends of Donnie and Davie (the other brother of mine who passed away) got tattoos of their initials or names. And that would be a cool discovery as well. To know so many loved and cared for him besides my family is a comforting thought.
