#13 Things you didn't know about me

I have a fear of snakes I am trying to get better about! Recently I have had a snake problem in my basement. Where there have been a few garden snakes in my basement that needed removed. Luckily I was able to get help with this. Now I will be working on figuring out how they are getting in and stopping them. I have old bricks throughout some of my basement and then more modern bricks on the other half. And over the years I've been using morter mix to fill in gaps. Mainly I have put off this side job because of Wiley but also I'm worried there may be more snakes down there!
This fear has always been with me. I can't seem to shake it - whenever I see a snake I just fill with fear. I have no problems with spiders or other 'creepy crawlies'. But gosh! When I see a snake I can't help but become terribly scared. I feel I should hopefully overcome this fear someday. I've only ever seen garden snakes around here. Since I see the on a somewhat regular basis I think it would be wise of me to just be able to be around them and not get so freaked out. They most likely are more scared of us.
Do any of you have a fear of snakes? Or a fear something similar?

That sounds awful :( Thankfully, there are almost no snakes where I live (Belgium). We do have a lot of spiders, and if they’re big, that's something I’m a bit afraid of. I hope you get to find a solution for the old bricks in your basement.

Oh yeah, I hear you about the snakes. It's a lizard brain thing.

I rather love snakes. I'm not too keen on spiders though

I quite like snakes. Youngest was very fond of them to the point that we used to have an annual zoo pass, and if we had time to stop in at the zoo before collecting the older two from school, we would go in to the reptile house and nowhere else! They were very excited one school holidays to discover that there was a reptile education stall set up at one of the local shopping centres, and they got to hold a snake. Not something local from memory.

I wish you good luck. And hopefully your dog will recover soon. Having his leg in a splint seems awful :(

Those jumping spiders are a species on their own :) I remember when my parents bought the house we would live in ( I was seven ), we had a stroll through the abandoned garden. The grass was long and yellow, dried out. With every step you took on that grass, like a hundred little jumping spiders jumped away. Awful. I still remember that :)

That said I wouldn't want them in my basement either. I had to evict some black snakes from my grandma's place back in the day

Yes, very different from discovering them in the back garden as well!

From back when we were hunter gatherers, things that helped with survival. Like getting afraid of things that we don't recognize and fight or flight.

Oh gosh that would have scared me too! I’m not really a fan of snakes either.

Nah, just grabbed it behind its head and carried it out to the woods. It's a harmless snake

Good to hear that your dog’s leg is healing well!
