#53 Starfish's "Beautiful radiant things" review!
https://beautifulradiantthings.webcomic.ws/comics/1#content-start
I found this comic, "Beautiful radiant things" just by chance and I'm so happy I did. It's one of the most realistic and down to earth comics I've read. I feel like it's in it's own category, being a very special comic of it's very own. It does fall into the themes of LGBTQ+, romance, comedy, slice of life, queer, nonbinary, enby, transgender, trans, polyamory, poly and polyam. So if you aren't comfortable with those themes you may want to skip this one. But if you are open to those themes and want to try a new comic that has beats to it's own drub then - I think you should give this one a try!
There are many things that make this comic a gem! One of my favorite is the characters and how relatable they are. They just feel so real, like people you may already know. The author, Starfish_comics has created such a good, diverse cast of characters! As I've been reading chapter by chapter I've found they all have similar issues to what you or I may struggle with or have struggled with. Or may in the future! We all have flaws and issues and I think that this comic reminds us of that. They each are going down their own roads in life, sometimes their paths cross - sometimes they struggle and learn on their own - but all the while I couldn't help but feel for them during these paths. It focuses a-lot on different relationships. Friendships, family relationships, romantic ones... the ups and downs of those. Understanding each other, learning about each other, supporting each other. Life can be quite complicated and I think this comic covers that. And I can't forget to mention the cute little ghosts who haunt the apartment! They also have their own charm to add to this already remarkable web comic!
Starfish_comics has a great art style. It's a fun, cartoony style and made me feel wholesome and happy as I read along. I enjoy how the characters have different body shapes and body types. Nothing is left out! Other comics have characters that are all cut out of the same cookie cutter shapes but "Beautiful radiant things" is nothing like that! The pages and panels along those pages are also a fun joy to experience. The story takes special pauses to enjoy a special moment and to be honest, most other comics have a hard time comparing to these moments. I still have a ways to go with catching up on future chapters but already I feel pretty invested with the characters and their relationships. All of the colors and scenes build the emotions together in such a way that it felt like I was right there with them. While things were going good or going bad.
