Back at it after an unexpected visit to an urgent care and the emergency room

This past weekend in the morning I was feeling a bit nauseous and bloated, but as the day went on both days it seemed to go away. But then Monday I was off and around 8 am I started feeling very nauseous but I kept busy with working on stamps and then I did some weed whacking in my ditch and then talked to my neighbors for a bit. When I came home I tried to eat lunch and took a nap. Before this I blew my nose and it was solid white stuff coming out, which worried me. At 2 pm I woke up and threw up my sandwich along with a-lot of phlegm. And within some time it just got worse, I threw up more of what I ate, along with a mucus pill that I took just that morning - the whole thing. Before long I was feeling so dizzy, hot and cold, shaky and it was hard to think. I knew my parents were busy, so I couldn't ask them for help. But I asked my boyfriend who was working but he would try to get out to me soon if I needed him to. Then I tried my sister and she was able to take me to an urgent care.

We left and when I got there they were convinced it was covid. To the point they were rude and distressful, cutting me off when I would try to explain the phlegm and my history with having bad sinuses. My ability to focus was bad, I couldn't answer their questions right and the nurse was one of the worst people I have ever dealt with in the medical field. period. I tried explaining it could be covid but it could also be something else. Nope. Covid was all I had was their response. They took a covid test, had me lay down and deeply rubbed my stomach a bit too hard and gave me medication for my nausea before they sent me on my way. I was disgusted. And disappointed. Their attitudes towards me were unprofessional. To say the least.

Then I promised my sister to get her some gas since she brought me there so last minute as a way to say thank you. We were out of the car for a few minutes when I started throwing up again. Basically dry heaving. Then I felt like I collapsed in the parking lot. I told her I felt like I was drying. It was hard to do anything at that point. Anna got me into the car and we went to the emergency room.
There they were saints compared to the urgent care down the street. They got me a heated blanket, took all sorts of tests like a chest x-ray, CT scan of my stomach, an EKG, bloodwork, urine and gave me an IV.
Slowly all my tests came back negative (even the covid one! Go figure!) but then we found out with my blood work my white blood cells were fighting something off inside my body. Okay - this makes sense.

Finally my results came back from the last text, my CT scan. The doctor was very confused when she told me I had cellulitis in my bellybutton area. That's where the pain was coming from mainly. We looked over my bellybutton and nothing. Everything looked fine. So this was the begging stages. I never heard of this before but when I looked it up usually it happens on someone's arm or leg. But here it was for me in this weird place. We aren't sure how or why. But I go to see the doctor for a follow-up late this morning.
Luckily Mike was able to pick me up and spend the night and we ended up getting my other medication the next morning. I feel blessed to have those around me in my life that were able to help. During probably the sickest I've ever been.

I still have some stomach pain and I still have a bit of tiredness but I think that is from the medication. And probably because of antibiotics and medication they gave me has a side effect of diarrhea. I haven't had a solid bowel movement since early Monday morning. I'm hoping this goes away since I need to be on the antibiotics for the cellulitis for a total of ten days.
But yeah.. that's how the start of my week has been going... I do plan on writing more and getting caught up with everyone's entries soon. Maybe tonight I will spare an hour or two and do some reading to catch up with you all. This really goes to show that you never know what hand you'll get in life. I'm glad we figured it out and I'm glad it's hopefully over and done with.

I definitely hope you make a full recovery. On my end, I may have neuropathy (and am on nerve pain medication since it had really gotten intense), and I have two scans at the end of the month to verify if so.

Thanks. It's mercifully not diabetic, so I assume that regardless of how the scans go, I can still live my life as I've been living.

Ugh, sorry to hear that!

I hate to be that person on the internet suggesting what your mystery illness might be (sometimes bodies are Just Weird), but I mention this just in case it's helpful. The fact you said you upchucked a pill that was still whole hours later made me think of gastroparesis: https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/gastroparesis/symptoms-causes/syc-20355787. Which likely isn't the source of the increased white blood cell count, but it might not be helping.

Hopefully the antibiotics will kick whatever this is. Fingers crossed!

i also hope this issue goes away quickly, that sounds so scary =( (BIG HUGS)!!!!!! try not to worry about everyone's entries unless it helps to take your mind off things!

Oh my God... Admittedly, my Mom just called me for dinner, so I'll have to read this in detail later. But I just want to say that I'm glad you are on the mend. Believe me, I have a thing with freaking whenever I hear news of a friend of mine who went through a health scare, so though I gotta eat, I saw this in my feed on DW and I needed to spare some words. Call it a habit from working at least two years in the disabled care and education business; that kind of job connects one to others on a more personal level.

Please take care, and I'll read this in-depth when I get the opportunity. 🙏🏽😇

Oh no, poor you! Get well soon *hugs*
I'm sorry to hear staff at the urgent care was so unprofessional and rude to you, that kind of attitude feels even worse when you are already sick :(

I'm so glad you are going to be okay. I hope you are still recovering well.

Illnesses can be scary and I've had to deal with less than stellar doctors lately too.

I hope you continue to get better though!

Good grief! The urgent care was definitely unprofessional. I get it they deal with this stuff all the time, but they can't treat patients like that.

Glad your sister could get you to the ER. I'm hoping from this point, you're doing much better. Is there anything you need to do at this point?
